Overwatch 2's Battle Pass had always been XP-based. Free challenges﷽ reward bonus XP on top of playing matꦚches. The challenges are generic and not hero-based.

You were definitely using Game Pass wrong. You don't have to finish a game in a week, you have the whole month if you're paying month-to-month. Games cost more than the $17 asking price, so if you "finisꦫh" a game every month you're saving alot of money. Also, games are on Game Pass for many months, so there's no rush to jump from game-to-game.
