There is a rather easy answer to the paint issue at least and maybe other thiඣngs taken for granted in games by gamers who play a lot.

Have an option to remove the painted section♐s (they are just textures) akin to the tutorial hints you find in other games can be disabled,

Change the colour oꩲf red barrels to normal♛ colour for example.

These things could be a realism setting or something but without affecting game difficulty in the normal way (aka bullet sponge bosses ), that can have it's own gameplay difficulties. \this would just be a visual differen🤡ce like some no huh options etc.
