All the review bombing aside I'm under the 🐟impression the viewership is far far off most of the other SW tv shows.
It would indicate the lauded accessibility to new viewers is working even less than🐈 🧜the shows that are built on existing lore.
Generally overall quality seems to be a bigger driver. Some of The Mandalorian's biggest viewership came from the deepest lore cuts and even the best Star Wars of the last two decades (Clone Wars, Rogue One, Bad Batch and Andor) is still fundamentally built around e🃏xisting lore. The shows are built around it without it being just lore dumps.
Quality is very possible anꦺd often bolstered by strong, relativel♍y strict worlds.
The MCU has gone off the rails, but its crowning achievement(arguably the most successful movie in history) relied in a heavy knowledge of 20 movies worth of story, characters and lore. It has struggled, much like Acolyte whe𝓰n it strayed too far from its own world.
The Acolyte is not the worst t𝓡hing ever created, despite all the backlash, but it isn't a strong argument for wider stories written by non fans either.
