You're right. Numbers aren't everything. Black Myth should be a🌌 GOTY pick because it's visually and audibly stunning. The combat is fun and engaging. It uses multiple ൲different art styles including stop motion to tell it's story, a story that many outside of China have never heard. You mentioned the game doing well "only because of its Chinese audience" (as if they don't count as players. Guess only US numbers make it a good game) and it's a game that made a bridge between that audience and the world. This was a first time studio that pushed out a block buster and it was the most anticipated game for years. And it delivered. This year was great for games. But this game and this studio went above and beyond. It's easy to feel there is a conspiracy when journalists like you come and tell us it wasn't that impressive while also trying your hardest to drag the studios name through the mud about unproven mistranslated allegations. Gamers didn't make it controversial. Journalists did. How many articles on this site alone are trying to turn gamers against Black Myth? Not talking about the gameplay or story or anything but repeatedly echoing the same unproven allegations? But now that we're defending it it's an issue? Come on.
