The Until Dawn Movie Is Hollywood's Latest Gaming Insult
So, you're asking if, I like Italian food, why am I not happy going to Panda Express because they have noodles, too? The "reason" to adapt a book, ir a game, is because people are fans of the "story" they are invested in those characters. Hollywood constantly throws that back into people🅘s' faces & they're taking a loss for it, too. Slapping a name on something doesn't make it canon, or good. Star Trek is a perfect example. The fans loved the characters. They loved adaptations. They were even okay with bringing in whole new material & characters without justification because it remained "within" that universe. The new movies, ended that. They borrowed the names, the costumes, and heck, even the props (& one of the original cast): but as to the story? Not new. Not original. It was a contrived, cliché origin story that just spit in yhe face of the actual story. So- we read books to delve deeper into these fun worlds. We use our imaginations. And, then, we get to see those visions & imaginations brought to life only to have to wait 24 years, since the 1st one, to put Wolverine in his pikachu / raiders outfit & make him act LIKE Wolverine... and it wasn't even an Xman movie. It's insulting to our intelligence, the years of $$ & effort we've given that MADE those stories a success, but for gamers, it's worse still, because this isn't a book you rrad once, long ago... this is a story they read over and over and over again.. investing hours to days to weeks of their life, replaying & revisiting that story. I guess- you'd have to love & appreciate & sacrifice something.. to understand that all these folks want, is even a shred of respect returned to them, for the respect, love, & commitment they've shown, for it.
