As a long time SWtOR player, I agree. I've watched the game get gutted and stripped in favor of loot boxes and the "cartel market" (costume gear you used to be able to buy from in game vendors for in game currency is now locked in the cash shop for example), and I finally had to quit the game after having played since closed beta after their "graphics update" (while ignoring literally everyone's critiques about said updates). Veilguard༒ feels the same, like the game I want is there somewhere, but it was ripped away and tossed aside in favor of the idea/hope of profit by EA.
