The Switch 2 is over-priced for the same reason the launch PS3 models were. Though, I'm gonna hazard that Nintendo's larger issue this go-around is software practices as opposed to hardware cost. Out of the gate, they attempt justify $80 MKW simply as offering value. But, the translation is "We will charge this much because we can, and people will pay, regardless." Having nearly every third party game relegated to key cards or digital downloa✤d isn't helping, either. The initial sales figures may be record-breaking. But, are they sustainable without software sales? We shall see.
