The void can actually be reached without having to use exploits. Sometimes, there's a rare chance of a hole appearing in a random place on the map (in the logs it's called "void_entrance"), and you can enter it. Someone has a picture of it on a re♚ddit post, if you search it up. I would assume this is the way you were originally meant to enter the void, however I think since the exploit hasn't been patched, maybe it's meant to be done that way too?
