Verso helps Maelle in Act 3 because he doesn't want to delete the Canvas yet. HE wants to die. But at the end of Act 3 Verso realises that a small part of the real Verso is still inside the Canvas, trapped and forced to paint forever. Verso has all of the real one's memories so he knows that the real Verso didn't rea🌃lly like painting, he liked music. This existence for the faceless boy is one of suffer🧜ing and doing something he doesn't want to do so he tries to free him, even at the cost of the Canvas. There is also the FACT that Maelle will become addicted and die in the Canvas.

Verso knows tﷺhis, and he chooses to sacrifice the Canvas in order to free what's🐎 left of the real Verso and let him be at peace, and in order to save Maelle and help her heal in the real world.

This game really needed a happy enꩵding where the Dessendre family take turns🧸 painting so that nobody loses himself and the world can continue.
