Boy, I Sure Hope Assassin's Creed Shadows Isn't Just Ghost Of Tsushima
What is it with gaming journos and CONSTANTLY getting things wrong?? Ex: "one of whom is Yasuke, a real historical figure who is largely considered the first Black samurai" Gon💮na correct the record here, Yasuke was a paige boy for a bunch of Portuguese Jesuits, probably was a slave at one point. He entered Oda Nobunaga's court and Oda was fascinated by the foreigners' skin tone, thinking he was covered in ink. Most in Nobunaga's court considered Yasuke to be "beastly" and disregarded him as such. At some point, Yasuke entered Nobunaga's service as a retainer and was given a ceremonial position as a "sword bearer". He had a ceremonial sword, but no record exists of him being granted armor, no record exists of him being granted a real weapon or any kind of training. No records exist of him participating in any battles as a fighter. Yasuke has a myth, a fiction crafted around him by modern day SJW's who are desperate to put a black man in samurai garb. Yasuke had no formal tital as a samurai, no training, knew Oda Nobunaga for less than a year following him ღaround before Oda's death, was captured and returned to the Jesuits before fleeing the country. Do Assassin's Creed games have to be perfectly historically accurate? Not necessarily, no. There is a grant of a suspension of disbelief. However there are records, first hand accounts and second hand accounts of this man, and he wasn't anything special, and propping up the myth is in poor taste.
