Bro I didn't like the game for narrative and writing reasons, but this article is about unused art. The art looks great, including the unused marketing posters. The posters not being used has nothing to do with the devs. That's 100% the marketing department, and if you actually knew anything about marketing you'd know those people aren't developers. They're guys with spreadsheets. They're how you end up with discordant traile🐭rs everyone hates, and EA executives saying the game bombed because it wasn't live service.

While I feel some sympathy for the way the narrative team was treated, I still deeply resent the fact these🃏 people spent 4 games waving off the Ace community but still expected us to continue supporting them when they showed not one iota of compassion or care for the marginalized people they were deliberately excluding. Sorry not sorry.

They're supposed to be sketchy? From the first game, the Wardens were oftentimes criminals who were conscripte🏅d. They're supposed to be a morallyᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ grey faction. That was actually part of the game, originally: moral choices. Apparently it's not in Veilguard.

To me, it seems like the devs decided what kind of character I h📖ad to play and everything el🔴se is cosmetics. Rook is so bland: just a boring dress up doll.

They could've just made the character they had in mind default instead of pret🌳ending I have any say in the cha🍌racter's personality.

It's like they thought their entir💝e audience was the type of gamer who can't choose the mean dialogue option in an RPG, so they removed the option e🎐ntirely. So much for crafting a character and role-playing. The bioware devs apparently get to decide what kind of character you play as.

Gaider also claimed asexual rep was too complicated to include without using "modern terms". Now, trans and nonbinary are common words in Thedas that everyone knows, so what's stopping them from including ace rep? Could it be aphobia? Surely not! This is the most LGBTQIA+ inclusivꦆe game ever....That doesn't include a single canonically aspec person at all.

Instead, he got stolen and repurposed into a life coach in those those badly written Blue Wraith comics. At least the art was good, but what the writers did to him was character assa🎃ssination.

Made me laugh in agreement. Everything you said is spot on and articulates my own feelings about the game. I'm tired of people chastising me for not enjoying it just because I'm nonbinary and "should" because 🦹 "rep". Maybe they should've written a better game and not ignored their own world building, then it would be something I could get behind.

I don't understand how this game took so long to make but still ends up feeling rushed. Da2 had a notoriously short turn around yet sti♍ll has great writing! But Veilguard feels so spare and rushed, like ever🤡ything was the first draft. So much was thrown out that would've contributed to the world building.

If they want to return to their golden age, I recommend they focus on good writing. The major failing of Veilguard is the poor pacing, lack of narrative depth, and the flat characters. They denigrated the work of the previous wr🗹iting teams by saying they blundered into good characters--incredibly cringe, considering how basic and overwhelming bland the new companions and story are.

They should've brought back rivalmances. The relationship dynamics in this game are so boring. People sitting around talking therapy speak at one another and being flat, uncomplicated super hero templates. Generic nice guys and generic relationships. Remember when the writing for these games w𓄧as complex and let the characters be interesting? They really lost a lot when David Gaider left.

I think the problem is...this game does feel like it was made by a committee. The elements they prioritized (photo mode, 🐭pretty long hair, everyone being romanceable by anyone) feels like it was sourced directly from the "fan council" that bioware put together, and those are the type of fans who don't actually care what's going on as long as they can make a pretty self insert and romance a cartoon character.

The point is that some of the choices were major and should have carried over. There were huge, world building decisions made, and smaller ones that would still reverberate even "In the north". Saying all of those things were small, regional, and no one would care about them a country away also holds no water because in DAI,you could reach over borders and effect the politics in other nations....even Tevinter. Now none of those machinations actually had impact. It's weird double speak from devs who keep saying "yo🏅ur choices matter" but then they wiped the slate clean and chose to ignore all previous choices.

I've tried listening to it a couple tim♊es...and it was entirely unremarkable. Sounds like phoned-in "epic movie trailer" music. Every part of this game has been a letdown so far.

Your choices matter until you're an aroace person who wants to see yourself represented in an "LGBTQIA+ inclusive " game without being subjected to aphobic wr🐟iting. I can be transmasc with modern top surgery scars, can come out as trans in the story and socialize with other trans characters in the story... but I can't be AroAce, can't come out as AroAce, can't meet other AroAce people in that world. The devs don't care about people like me, hence why they've create🥀d a world where people like me do not exist.

People keep telling me this game is soooo inclusive but...they can't seem to include a single person from the ace community? They just make excuses for why excluding ace rep and making aphobic writing choices is okay, but string the ace community along with "maybe lat🌄er"s and social media shout outs. If you don't include the A in the LGBTQIA+ acronym, I don't think you should be allowed to claim you're queer inclusive. The devs have made it clear that they only care about certain queer people, not all of us.
