See AllDoes Anyone Actually Believe That S꧙tar Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Still Exists?
James - Thanks for your reply! It's cool when someone engages. But to your poinꦛts:
1) Yeah, the Clone Wars as an era were a little messy, but that was down to two things. The first, as we agree, was George Lucas changing his mind. It's bound to happen when the overview he gives to authors like Timothy Zahn, who references those notes, radically change for the Prequel. (Don't get me wrong, despite the changes and all of their flaws, I personally adore the PT.) But the CWMMP and all the Prequel-Era works were very consistent with the movies, and only Dave Filꦑoni's TCW show introduced irreconcilable differences (including with the PT).
2) Things were very Wild West, es༺pecially in regards to things like the Original Marvel comics and the Newspaper strips. It's more or less guaranteed when people aren't caring about the bigger picture. Though LucasFilm did try to shift to having a coherent canon (along with creating the Canon Tiers), that changed drastically.
3) Most of those did get worked into a mostly-coherent narrative eventually. Like how they worked in the claim about Boba Fett being a Stormtrooper, a Journeyman Protector, a clone, the Jaster Mareel identity, all the way to becoming Mand'alor ended up being a great journey for the character💧. The cohesion was something I loved in the Old Canon we really don't get in the Disney Canon. (I don't hate all of it, mind you. There are some rare gems in the Disney Canon.)
4) Post-RotJ was settled, though I always worried George Lucas would make his Sequels and undo all those great stories. I was originally excited about the Disney purchase because I'd hoped they would keep most of the EU (maybe only dropping some of the weakest🎀 entries like The Crystal Star), and make their movies as an extension of that. Though we got much worse than anything Lucas could have done.
5) Yeah, we'd never get another Mara Jade or TFU. Though that may be for the b♌est, as I wouldn't trust most people there to do them ꧙well.
Does An🔯yone Actually Believe That Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Still Exists?
We generally don't see Disney doing things "bec꧃ause there's a market." Ther🐼e had been (arguably still is) a market for continuing the Old Canon under the "Legends" banner. And plenty of companies throw out tons of work for tax write offs. My assumption at this point is that it's vaporware until proven otherwise.
Does Anyone Actuaඣlly Believe That Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Still Exists?
Tell me you know nothing about the Old Canon of Star Wars without directly saying it. For one, "got to work cleaning up the 🐠convoluted and often contradictory expanded universe" is a str💫ange way of saying "decanonizing, ignoring, and often outright deriding." Also, only the last show (TCW) was brought over into the Disney Canon. The others, including the original Clone Wars, were not.
It also outright tells me that you know little of the Old Canon to call it "often contradictory." (I rarely found it convoluted, but I understand people's tolerance for that is subjective.) Most contradictions came about because of external factors. The first was George Lucas changing his mind on story details when actually making the Prequel Trilogy, and t♑hose had all been addressed. The other was from Dave Filoni iওntentionally doing whatever he wanted with TCW, intentionally and gleefully breaking continuity. Other than that, the only confusion I ever seem to see comes from people not understanding the material, or not understanding what was Canon. (I understand that S-Canon (along with what was in it like the original Marvel comics) and that fact Dave Filoni didn't care about continuity is hard to grasp.)
Also, the statement that "Over time, certain elements would be folded into its more cohesive canon" is patently absurd. For one, those elements weren't "folded in," they were blatantly ripped off... and often lesser copies in the process. Not to mention the assertion that the Dis🌺ney Canon is "more cohesive" than the Old Canon is, at the very best, an ignorant thing to say. Understand of the Old Canon aside, I would doubt a comprehension of the issues with the Disney Canon, especially in terms of a lack of contradictions.
It's okay to be a casual fan. It's jus🎃t... don't speak authoritatively and spread misinformation when that's not your thing.
Look, I agree that the KOTOR remake is likely vaporware at this 🐬point. Maybe for the best given rumors of r༒ewrites / story additions.
