You have some good points and great perspectives on this. Being a TMNT nerd since the 80s I've played pretty much every game dropped from way back Eastman Laird Days to just Kevin Eastman. This particular edition of the boys is one of my favorite. Also a huge fan of the comics. And I hope they have a DLC of The Last Ronin and beyond. I also started on the switch and I completely agree the online co-op was abismal at best. Then in late January 25 fin🎉ally was able to enter a random game played. And the Casey Jones DLC is suite! I took got the Steam version of the game hoping I could cross-save but starting over is not so bad. The playability is way better. Right now I'm just squishy and feel bad joining a group that is able to get through portals and not die off so quickly. I am curious though can't you have a build and keep on that build for a new run, or does someone have a good best build site that I can be pointed to?
