I for one found this article refreshing. It gets on my nerves to see so many people treat Oblivion as some sort of hidden RPG gem, when it♏ was actually extremely dumbed ꧟down and followed the aesthetic trends of the zeitgeist (Peter jackson's LOTR) to the point of having the most generic high fantasy setting imaginable.

But you adopt the point of view of a fan of the series. I love Moꦛrrowind, old Fallout and Fallout New Vegas. I don't give a f..k abou the Elder Scrolls or Bethesda Fallout. I do not "enjoy the fact we have this series at all". I very much resent the direction taken by Bethesda. Lots of people do. We ke💛ep complaining because we never got what we thought was the logical development to Morrowind.

The combat system is downright awful in all of these games, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim alike; so I never understand how the combat system is seen by many as in favor of more recent en🐷tries. If anything, Skyrim is worse than Morrowind, because it's much more recent. Even Fallout New Vegas offers something far more interesting than all of the TES, with a simila𝔉r system. The weapon diversity in FNV offers real gameplay choices. And that's not even talking about Dishonored or Dark Souls, which released at the time as Skyrim.

Not exactly an easy thing to do in a few words in a blog article... F💝YI people who prefer Morrowind have been making such critical thinking on Youtube for a decade. This takes hours.

That's not quite true. Morrowind was more complex in ways that actually matter: world-building, lore, writing, a sense of verisimilitude... "Not being able to buy a house or a horse" or "where have the language skills gone" fade in comparison. Just like, in the grand scheme of things, I don't really care that Oblivion ditched out throwing weapons, spears, levitation or whatever. That is not what is impor🌠tant.
