This game in particular is choosing to highlight the other 🏅side of the gods. That how they can be petty and terrible to those who live in the same world as them or have been caught up with their chaos. This is especially evident in the inclusion of Arachne, Echo and Narcissus and Heracles. Multiple characters who've had their lives messed with thanks to the gods. Depicting Dionysus this way feels like it's following this particular point to show that the gods can truly be terrible and indifferent and don't care much about the suffering of mortals. Or necessarily previously aligned titans either.
