This is a thoughtful take, and I think the sentiment is on the mark, but it might be missing some hard truths about the industry. Ports have been around for a while and have only become more prevalent, a lot of times it's a pretty shameless cash grab, but the switch was a different beast entirely. Ports on the switch are freaking awesome, for one big reason. Industry bloat. There are far too many games that come out now. But what's, more or less, a guarantee of quality, first party Ninten🌳do games. So now you buy a switch, mmm what else is on there, oh, looks like a crap ton of games I didn't get to last gen. You might be right, it shouldn't be supported by ports, but I don't see this changing an iota for the switch 2 and I don't think it's the worst thing.

I agree with this, the requirement that♑ it run the same on both versions is the mistake, a good budget console is always welcome. I do think it puts Microsoft in a unique position to put a dent in the handheld market if they would just re🐼lease one. They could leverage all that experience getting games to work on a less powerful console.
