I've translated the Tweet myself and this article conveniently leaves out the part that says Yasuke was a slave until Nobunaga took over and probably became a "samurai" of his own volition. That means he was never given the official title of samurai and therefore could not have been one. Samurai followed a very strict code. A code that from the historical records that actually exist Yasuke did not follow. He may have been a war🔯rior but he was not a true samurai. Even generously assuming he might ha💧ve been given that title by Nobunaga sometime in the future, that chance never happened due to the Honno-ji incident.
