Is it even an RPG? As far as gaming genres go, it’s a 🐻t🙈urn based strategy game with a solid story. Given the parry mechanics you could even probably add it in as a soulslike, which is a specific type of action game.

RPGs like Mass Eff💟ect and Cyberpunk 2077 are di👍fferent gaming experiences. JRPGs like Persona also have a healthy amount of dialogue choices and consequences that put it in the sphere of an RPG.

I suppose as devs continue to mix and experiment, every game might just become an RPG, but my stubborn 🅺brain feels like if a core part of the gameplay loop isn’t having conversations with dialogue options, then you’re not really an RPG. Sorry Elden Ring.
