How To Unlock The Career Cover-Up Romance Commission

The Career Cover-Up Romance commission will become available once you reach Chapter Two Intermission. You will also need to complete the prerequisite quest, A Memoir of Work Screw-Ups.

Once these prerequisites have been met, travel to Brant Street to find and speak with Dana. After this conversation, you can accept the commission and access it via the HDD.

How To Prepare For The Career Cover-Up Romance Commission

Career Cover-Up Romance is a medium-difficulty commission with a recommended Agent level of 26. While it is found in the Chapter Two commissions list, it can only be unlocked once you reach Chapter Two Intermission.

Unfortunately, the combat encounter built into this commission is entirely random, so there is no particular attribute you should choose to be effective. Your best bet is to bring the team you are the most confident in.

Career Cover-Up Romance Walkthrough

Entering The Hollow

When you first spawn in The Hollow, you will be at the bottom of an L-shaped row. Dana will explain that the cannons can be used to defeat Ethereals. Move to the left, pick up the Gear Coins tile, then move your bangboo over each of the cannon tiles.

Once your bangboo hits a cannon tile, it will release ammunition that moves once for every move you take. In order to get the ammunition to hit the enemies, you will need to move three times in any direction. With the path to the drill rig cleared, move to the bottom-left corner, and 👍a new path wil🍎l appear. Take this path around the cannons and proceed to the machine.

When you reach the machine, Dana will explain that the machine is too corrupted, so she must use an engineering device to get it started. Of course, nothing is that easy - you must first collect Gear Coins to power up the device.

Floor Two - Round One

The second floor is where the true puzzle begins, as you will have to collect Gear Coins in order to repair the damaged machine.𝐆 How do you earn Gear Coins? By blasting Ethereals, of course!

When you arrive at Floor Two of the Hollow, you will see a row of red buttons below you, a book tile in the middle, and a row of cannon tiles above you. Whenever you move up to hit a cannon tile, an ammunition tile is created that moves one tile upward each time you make a move. The goal is to use these ammunition tiles to hit Ethereals.

Of course, if waiting for the ammunition to move is too slow-paced for you, then you could always use the red buttons to charge the cannons. Stepping on the red button below a cannon will charge it, causing the cannon to fire in a straight line immediately rather than waiting for the ammunition to move.

Every Ethereal you hit with ammunition grants you 100 Gear Coins. Once you have enough Gear Coins saved, you can move to the bookshelf tile to open the upgrade shop and upgrade the Engineering Device.

The Drill Rig Repair upgrade can onl✃y be purchased during the first rou🦩nd of this commission.

These upgrades are not infinite and instead run on a long cooldown, so we recommend focusing on increasing the Drill Rig Repair Progress, which will require at least 6,000 Gear Coins. T♚he r😼est of the upgrades can be purchased during Round Two.

Of course, commissions are never this simple - along with defeating Ethereals for Gear Coins, you also have to defend the Drill Rig. If an enemy tile ever reaches the bottom-left of the screen, the Ethereal tile will move down the path toward the drill rig. Any enemy tile that hits the drill rig will reduce its repair progress by five percent.

As Round One progresses, higher-difficulty enemies will also begin to spawn, adding another challenge to the commission. Notably, the eyepatch-wearing bangboo will drop its own bombs and create a three-tile cross-shaped explosion once defeated. Using the explosive bangboo t🐷o your advantage can be helpful for eliminating extra Ethereal til🎃es.

If the explod🌠ing bangboo's explosion is w💦ithin range of your bangboo, it will damage your Agents, so keep your distance!

Once an Ethereal tile spawns, it will move down each turn until it begins moving left to attack the rig. Enemies that spawn later in the round can move in any direction on their turn. Ultimately, your best strategy is to launch ammunition each turn, as well as constantly launch ammunition on the left side of the screen to create a defensive line.

Once you have earned 6,000 Gear Coins and repaired the rig, a brief cutscene will play before the rig turns against you, and Round Two begins!

Floor Two - Round Two

Round Two will require you to subdue the now-angry drill rig, with the catch being that Ethereals that spawn will flock to defend the drill rig. You will need to defeat the Ethereals, collect more Gear Coins, and upgrade the engineering device to defeat the drill rig.

The drill rig has one hundred hit points, so to speak, and each ammunition that hits it will reduce its hit points. Regular ammunition will deal five points of damage, while DDD Rounds will deal six points of damage.

To defeat the drill rig, we recommend saving DDD Rounds for when you are guaranteed a hit on the drill rig, as well as purchasing the engineering machine upgrades to help you auto-reload the cannons ✃💟and ready additional DDD Rounds.

When expending DDD Rounds, consider waiting until several Ethereals are in the l🍌ine of fir🅰e as well to gain a few extra Gear Coins!

Once the drill rig's hit points are almost entirely drained, it will snap out of its aggressive state, and you will be moved to the final HDD area of the commission.

Before finishing off the drill rig, be sure you've collected the Hollow Observation Data tiles꧂ at the corners of the map!

Once you have moved up to the final row of HDD screens, move three tiles right so you are positioned above the drill rig. Move down until a shaking animation plays, and watch as a secret path full of Dennies appears! Continue pushing down on the drill rig until three Denny tiles and one Senior Investigator Log tile have been revealed. Collect the loot and the final Hollow Observation Data, then proceed to the flag tile.

Upon hitting the flag tile, you will enter combat. After two rounds of combat against lesser enemies, the commission will be complete!
