Assassin's Creed Shadows Was Always Going To Be Queer
I👍f you think otherwise, you ♉probably didn’t play the games.
Yes. More specifically, it was Assassin's Creed Unity's Arno Dorian.
In the leadup🅺 t꧅o the opening ceremonies, shared on Twitter concepts for a potential Assassin appearance. Those concepts showcased the Assassin performing parkour all throughout the landmarks of Paris whilst holding the iconic torch.
Then, on the morning𒉰 of the opening ceremonies, told fans to keep an eye on the rooftops because Aꦿrno might be watching.
added to the speculation when it tweeted a separate pictur🧔e of Arno ahead of the ceremony.
And when the Assassin finally ma🃏de an appearance,💛 Ubisoft responded:
So, no, you were not mistaken. It was Arno at the Olympics. That said, many are wondering just why at the Olympics of all places was Assassin's Creed included.
Arno At The Olympics Makes Perfect Sense
The short of it is that Ubisoft is a French video game company. Assassin's Creed Unity happens to take place in France, and its protagonist, Arno, is French. In many ways, it's a perfect collaboration.
Beyond introducing the many Olympic athletes at the ceremonies, the Openi🐎ng Ceremony also introduces the world to the host country. A lot of effort is put into being able to showcase all that makes the host country unique, with many references to the culture, its athletes, artists and architecture. Ubisoft remains a major part of France, and so its inclusion, no matter🌃 how small, was important.
And so, just like Mario was a major part of the 2016 closing ceremonies as Japan took on the reins of hosting in 2020, then so is Arno in 2024. Sure, Arno doesn't necessarily have the same pop culture appeal as Mario, but he has just as much right to be there, all things considered. And it was awesome to see the Olympics and Ubisoft recognize that.
