There have been plenty of games over the years, and they've certainly been met with a wide range in terms of reception. But over time, there have consistently been improvements in gameplay and new modes to partake in. But just as many features have fallen to the wayside — there are some things from past WWE games you simply can't do anymore.

For better or worse, these features and match types have found themselves removed in order for other areas of each subsequent game to be improved. While some of them are sorely missed, others are not so♋ fondly remembered.

10 Edit Menu Screens ꦦ 🙈

A custom hall of fame showcase section that was customized into WWF No Mercy.

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WWF No Mercy allowed you to edit the text in the character select screen. You could arrange the game's roster into different sections and edit the text for those sections to say just about anything you want, regardless of how appropriate or inappropriate it was.

The first SmackDown vs. Raw game did something similar by asking you which brand you supported, which would affect the font and colors of the game's menu screens. While fun, this was something that was unnecessary to include in future games, so it makes sense for the developers to focus their efforts elsewhere.

9 Change A Superstar's Physical Appearance

While you can change the colors and outfits of a superstar now, one thing you can no longer do in a WWE game is edit a superstar's physical appearance. This is something that the Nintendo 64 WWE games allowed you to do.

With the beauty of modern gaming hardware, this would be something that would be hilarious to see what 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a more modern WWE game could do with this feature. It is not a hu🦩ge priority to see in a game, but🐬 it would be cool nevertheless.

8 𒅌 Intergender Matches ꦜ

Intergender matches are something of a rarity in the modern era of WWE TV. This used to happen more frequently at the turn of the century but has basically been abandoned. A good thing too, as hi൩storically, the 🦩presentation has been more than a bit problematic.

Naturally✤, this was something you used to be able to do in WWE games as well, but they have followed suit with the standard. For example, now if you attack a female character as a male one, especially if that woman is a manager, you get an instant disqualification.

7 🍎 C♒ompete In Buried Alive Matches

Two screenshots depicting WWE wrestlers in Buried Alive matches in WWE games.

A "buried alive" match was a match type in WWE where the main goal was to, as the name suggests, bury your opponent alive in an empty hole by the main stage. Though first introduced in the 90s, a buried alive match would not be included in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a wrestling game until SmackDown vs. Raw 2006.

It basically worked like a hardcore match, with the above-mentioned goal being how you win. It can be pretty frustrating trying to throw your opponent in the coffin as there's this mini-game where you have to get this dot into a section of a bar to try to escape. Somehow, your opponent always finds a way to escape, and this frustration is likely why we haven't seen it in a game for a while now.

6 Road To WrestleMania ♊

First introduced in SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, Road to WrestleMania was a story mode that focused on a specific superstar's road to WrestleMania, a period that spans from January to March in the game. Each storyline was different and offered branching story paths depending on what was chosen.

Some stories were absolutely solid while others were just 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:so ridiculous that they still🤡 managed t༺o be good. It was ultimately ditched in favor of the career and showcase modes we see in✃ the WWE 2k games, the former of which is 𓃲now the story mode of WWE games.

5 🍃 Play A⭕s Default Superstars In Season Mode

Before Road to WrestleMania, there was season mode which let you take a chosen superstar through a year of the WWE season — which usually ends at WrestleMania. It even let you play as members of the main WWE roster, which gave you the ch🐲ance to imagine an underrated superstar being given the chance to finally shine.

Obviously, a lot of people like to imagine themselves winning the WWE world title and enjoy working their w🍌ay up from the bottom to the top. Playing as one of the main roster wrestlers took that feelin﷽g away a bit, which is why the 2k WWE games embraced this aspect with their career mode.

4 ⛄ Compete In Fulfill Your Fantasy Match♍es

It's not any sort of secret that female representation in the WWE (if not wrestling as a whole) , historically. The "Fulfill Your Fantasy" match is an unfortunate testament to that.

This match type was open only to women, who you had to dress up in a revealing outfit — the main gameplay mechanic was essentially stripping your opponent of the said outfit until they're down to their skivvies. The problematic nature of this one is abundantly obvious, and it should go without saying that it's best left buried in the past.

3 Create🎃 A Finisher ℱ

WWE 12 create a finisher screen.

There are many iconic finishers out there — the Stunner, Sweet Chin Music, and the F5 to just name a few. Every wrestling fan would love to make up their own, and that's where the Create a Finisher feature came in.

You could make the finisher by combining different moves together to create something truly unique and separate your superstar from the rest of the WWE roster. This was a feature removed in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the notoriously ill-received WWE 2k20 and is something many hope to see make a return.

2 Move To Different💟 Areas In A Match ✱

A backstage fight between Edge and Chris Jericho in Smackdown Here Comes the Pain. Note the arrow by the door that lets you move to a different part of the arena

Sometimes in a wrestling match on TV, you see wrestlers move into different parts of the arena and continue their bout in a wide array of settings. This is something older WWE games, like SmackDown Heღre Comes The Pain, would allow you to do.

It gave a feeling of openness and would allow you to dismantle your opponent in a number of ways. While brawling in different areas is still around, you can't move freely between them like you used to. This is a bit of a shame for a game that tries to emulate pro wrestling as realistically as possible.

1 🔯 Create A Story 𓄧

Editing a scene in SD vs. Raw 2010's create a story feature

The story is always what keeps a wrestling fan engaged. T𒉰here are ൩a lot of great WWE storylines to list and SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 finally gave you the chance to create stories of your own to tell. By using different scenes and editing options, you could make just about any story you wanted to.

Even better was the opportunity to share your story online and download other players' stories to see what they had come up with. They could be funny, great, bizarre, and everything in between. Sadly this mode has not been seen since WWE 2k14 — but it's just begging for a comeback.
