I’m bad at fighting games. I’ve admitted this before, and I’ll admit it again: 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I don’t care about skill trees, I don&♔rsquo;t have the patience to learn combos, and I get easily frustrated with boss fights. Yes, someဣtimes when I play games, I pass the controller to my partner and go do something else while he finishes a boss fight on my behalf. I value my peace, and I don’t find trying to button-mash my way through a fight very fulfilling. If I can delegate boss battles, I will.

The combat of the Like A Dragon series has therefore largely been more of a burden than a highlight for me. Getting more powerful is very skill-tree dependent, and refusing to learn new combos means that I often struggled through late-game battles. I have been murdered by Majima a million times. I have avoided roaming thugs on the street because I didn’t feel like fighting, despite wanting the XP and money that comes from those mini-battles. I’m just lazy.

Auto-Battle Changed My Life

And then I played Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and realised my life would never be the same. For the first time, combat didn’t have to be a chore, because it became more strategic than reflex-based. Moving my character to the right spot and picking the right move or guarding at the right time would get me through the game without issue, and even better – I could just switch auto-battle on. I don’t even have to think about which skills to pick, because the game will do everything for me. At most, I have to press buttons at the right time to maximise my damage output, which creates for a 168澳洲幸运5🎀开奖网:surprisingly engaging series of quiꦦck-time events.

I was already mostly playing the Like A Dragon games for the story, and turn-based gameplay makes it almost absurdly easy to get through and get experience. If I get into a battle on the street, as the series’ protagonists are wont to do, I can just trigger a🎀uto-battle, put the controller down, and reply to my messages or check my emails. If I got into a particularly challenging battle and wanted to play in a specific way I could, but the game is intelligent enough to make strategic, useful decisions on my behalf. Dungeons no longer make me want to tear my hair out, walking the streets don&rsﷺquo;t leave me frazzled, and boss fights are no longer intolerable. I can lock in or check out as much as I want to. It’s perfect for adapting to the level of engagement I’m capable of giving on any day.

If you’re a fan of the series because of the combat and the shift upset you, I get it, I really do. The series going turn-based sucked for some people, but for me, it was the best thing that could have happened, and the fact that the series will be staying this way for the foreseeable future just cements that I’ll probably love the games forever. I don’t ever want to go back to the days of getting my butt kiꦿcked by the same enemies over and over again. I’m going to be lazy, and I’m going to like it.
