Up until this moment, the bosses you've faced haven't been as challenging as this one. Zhang Rang is fought at the end of the sixth Main Battlefield mission, the Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch. By default, Cao Cao will be with you, but you should consider another Follower or seek help online to beat him.

Zhang Rang Boss Fight Strategy

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Zhang Rang creates copies and advances on our character

As soon as the fight begins, you will see you're up against six or seven copies of Zhang Rang. His copies are much weaker than the real Zhang Rang, but they must be killed first because they a📖re providing multi🦩ple buffs to the real boss.

The copies will use a mixture of ranged lightning attacks and physical strikes with a sword. You'll see immediately that lightning balls will come at you from almost every angle. They can be a lot to deal with, but you can time your deflections ಞinto the💎m as they travel, and the timing is lenient.

This is where having Followers will help you out immeasurably.

As a general rule in this fight, you will want NPC Fo﷽llowers to distract Zhang Rang while you de🐽al with the copies.

While this is happening, Zhang Rang will call down more powerful Lightning spells, all of which will hit multiple times and travel in a line.

If you're lucky, your Followers will main a beeline to the real Zhang Rang and keep him occupied. This is why it's beneficial to have more than just Cao Cao with you, giving not just the copies one more target, but also laying a smackdown on Zhang Rang.

The more copies you kill, the more Spirit Gauge damage you do and the more buffs you remove from the real Zhang R𓄧ang.

Trying to dodge his lightning attacks is not recommended. You should try blocking or deflecting them because dodging will leave you too exposed and push your Spirit into the red,𝐆 leaving you susceptible to being guard broken.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Zhang Rang copies appear behind our character during the fight, catching you out

If you happen to get Zhang Rang's attention, he will create whirlwinds of lightning around himself, and he will spam it. They can hit you multiple times and debuff you if you get caught in the attack, so you should deflect or block this attack if you can't escape. Try to move away from him and focus on the copies.

The copies will use one Critical Strike in which they lunge at you from across the room.

The timing to deflect this is generous and if you deflect it, you can one-shot the copies with a fatal blow.

You can hurt Zhang Rang without killing his copies, but this isn’t recommended due to how long it takes. Instead, you should try to tackle the fight in the following order, sticking to a simple pattern:

  • First, kill the copies while your Followers distract the real Zhang Rang.
  • Then combo him with your normal hits, ending in a heavy attack and a reliable Martial Arts strike on Zhang Rang.
  • Zhang will summon copies again.
  • Repeat the process.

You should find that you'll only have to kill two rounds of copies as you fight this battle.

Weapons with wide swings, like the slashing spear and straight sabres, are excellent in this fight.

Crowd control is key in this battle. Slashing spear weapons will give you wide swings to hurt several copies at once.

Pl🎉ay around with other weapons you have to see what w✃orks.

By the time you've killed all of his copies, you'll have the real Zhang Rang close to being stance broken since he takes so much Spirit Gaug🌼e damage from each copy y🔥ou dispatch.

When you're close to breaking Zhang Rang's guard, keep hitting him with normal attacks to get your Spirit Gauge maxed out and deal the final𒁏 stance-breaking strike, or fatal strike, with full Spirit for ma♏ximum damage.
