Unlocking The Armourer, Zhu Xia

Available for the first time after defeating Zhang Liang, Zhu Xia will first appear in early maps as an interactable NPC who offers access to her shop to:

• Buy small consumable items
• Sell excess items and gear
• Upgrade your gear

After dominating the first two chapters of Wo Long, Zhu Xia will open a storefront location within the Hidden Village for the rema🐠inder of the game. O♚nce this location is open, three additional functions will also be available to you:

• Embedding
• Decorating
• Salvaging

In order to use any of the functions at the forge, you'll need to have the appropriate amount of copper. Thankfully, copper is quite easy to find in the game, and Zhu Xia's costs are relatively low.

Upgrading

You can upgrade all of your armour pieces (except accessories) and weapons at the forge by paying a small amount of copper and having on-hand a certain amount of materials. Upgrading your armour will allow you to increase their durability and defenses against attacks while upgrading your weapons will allow them to scale higher with certain elements and increase their overall damage.

• Leather is used for upgrading armour
• Steel is used for upgrading weapons

For each upgrade, you'll need three of the item's specific materials of increasing rank. For example, upgrading a piece of armour from +4 to +5 will require you to use three pieces of Rank Five 🍌leather.

Each piece of equipment (except accessories) can be upgraded nine times, and the materials needed to upgrade at hi🍌gher levels become available within maps the farther along you progress in the story.

Embedding

Embedding is the bread and butter of any set-up, and having as many beneficial skills active at any given time will essentially determine the success of any build. Each piece of equipment above 1-star has an editable embedment slot that allows the use or presence of a special skill. Most equipment pieces have one permanent skill slot that cannot be changed (and this is normally placed at the top of the skills), but higher-ranked equipment will have more editable slots.

Editable slots may be affected when wearing full sets of armour. Gear with a set bonus have a trade-off of losing one editable embedding slot.

To begin the embedding process, you'll need to have enough copper and Jewel Fragments in order to remove and add skills to a piece of equipment. The copper cost is low, but Jewel Fragments can only be gained by removing skills from items or salvaging pieces of equipment in the "Salvage" menu.

With enough materials on hand, you'll need to do the following to change a skill on a weapon:

1. Remove one of the existing, unwanted skills to free up a slot
2. Select the now empty slot and choose one of the available skills in the next menu
3. Spend copper and Jewel Fragments to embed this skill

Keep in mind that there are special skills that are indicated by a circle icon on the left side of the skill's name and have a limited number of uses before they'll need to be extracted for use again from another piece of equipment. Otherwise, all other skills are entirely unlimited in use and can be removed and replaced an infinite number of time so long as you have the resources to pꦦurchase the embedding.

Even pieces of equipment that are not currently in use (such as an equipped ranged weapon) will contribute to the skills you have active. You can check to see which skills are currently active in your Status menu (to the right of your invenﷺtory) und🐈er "Special Effects."

Decorating

For a small price of copper, you can make any piece of equipment take on another appearance. Keep in mind that Decorating only changes the appearance of items but does not transfer stats.

For armour, any piece can be made to look like another of the same equipment type (e.g., any helmet can take on the appe⭕rance of other helmets).

For weapons, any piece can be made to look like another of the same style. For instance, any sword can be made to look like another, but a sword cannot be made to look like a hammer, and ▨vice versa.

You cannot change the appearance of Accessories, and you cannot change the appearance of any equipment to look as if you aren't wearing one. With helmets, there is no option to make it look as if you are not wearing one.

Salvaging

Due to the extraordinary amount of useless or irrelevant pieces of equipment to be gained during standard gameplay, the Salvage feature is incredibly valuable in the resources it provides and the opportunity for clearing out your bloated inventory. Salvaging a piece of equipment lends you:

• One piece of material that matches the equipment's upgrade rank (=rank of material) and type (Armour = Leather; Weapons = Steel)
• A fixed number of Jewel Fragments
• Any salvageable Jewelry Essence (of unique/limited skills)
