The fight is a fairly straightforward one. Dong Zhuo has no magical attacks to speak of, which means you'll only have to worry about his physical damage to you. We recommend increasing your defence and ignoring any armour that is geared more towards elemental resistance since it will be almost redundant in this fight. With that in mind, you may have to contend with some poison.

Dong Zhuo Boss Fight Strategy

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Dong Zhuo focuses attacks on our followers

As mentioned, this is effectively a simple melee fight with the exception of one attack that causes poison build-up. To this end, you'll want to make sure you stay within close and medium range of him throughout the fight.

The reason we recommend this is that he will choose to use a Critical Strike at a medium range that is incredibly easy to deflect.

Being too far away will cause him to spam ranged attacks at you, throwing poison knives.

You almost want to try and bait this charging critical strike out, because it will be a free way to deal significant Spirit damage to Dong Zhuo. The timing is easy since his whole charge is part of the attack, which means deflecting into him while he's charging will result in a successful deflection.

As you do Spirit damage to him by deflecting, you'll notice his Spirit bar will slowly shrink each time.

This doesn't recover until you inflict a stance break on him, so take your time.

Generally speaking, his attacks have a lot of range. He will swing his spear fairly wide, hoping to catch you at awkward angles if you're flanking him while Followers keep him busy.

If you're fighting him one-on-one, you shouldn't have to worry about his wide swings, just deflect them when you see them coming.

With that said, we would always recommend bringing allies with you if you're struggling in the fight. Even if they end up dying, they are extremely helpful for distracting the bosses and creating openings for you.

One thing to watch out fo💞r is his ran🌳ged poison knives.

He will spam these if you're far away enough and they will do small bits of chip damage even before they inflict the poison debuff.

Always try to keep to a pattern with your attacks. Your positive Spirit will reduce when you use it in the blue section of the 🧸gauge and enhance your charged attack.

Bear in mind, that you can also use this positive Spirit to enhance your already powerful Martial Arts attacks. Cons🐓ider throwing them into the mix before your normal attack combo ends or immediately after.

Dong Zhuo Critical Strikes

As we mentioned, one of his Critical Strikes is a charging attack. You want him to use this since it's so easy to deflect. The attack won't complete until he reaches you, giving you plenty of leniency on timing the deflection.

His second Critical Strike is a bit more problematic. This move comes out more often when he's enraged, which triggers when you get him to half his HP. This strike is a jumping attacꦫk where he swings in the air🍎.

After the initial jump, Dong Zhuo hangs in the air for a few seconds before swinging all around him.

Because of the delay, there's a lot of time to trick you into deflecting early.

His final Critical Strike is a ranged attack. Dong Zhuo will also only use this while enraged, but you'll know it's coming if he swings his spear upwards while glowing red.

After this, he will send a red-blade beam at you. Deflecting this is easy since it's a matter of timing your deflection just before it hits you.

A successful deflection will send the projectile back at him, knocking him over and sending him rolling backwards. This creates a significant opening if you can close the distance before he recovers. Take advantage of thisꦰ if you happen to get the deflection.

Generally speaking, since Dong Zhuo uses no magic, you should be pretty safe if you rely on blocking in this fight.

None of his attacks – other than the poison knives – will chip through your guard and hurt you. Just remember to keep attacking to recover your Spirit gauge.

Since the game pushes bosses to a stance break, you will get a few in this fight. The second one, depending on your damage, will probably be the end of the battle. We would recommend using a decent straight sabre sword in this fight since it has an excellent moveset.
