There are a lot of Pokemon. No really, there are so many. Over 1000 of them at this point. That's quite a bit, even for a series that has been running for over 25 years. But if you're familiar with the concept of a Living Dex, you'll know that can go far beyond the standard number of Pokemon.
For example, completing a Living Dex requires one of every Pokemon in every form, shiny variant and more. Forms (or Formes, as they're sometimes spelt in-game) come in many different, well, forms. For some Pokemon, this is a simple design change, to altering their types and even evolutions entirely. Even more complicated? Some Pokemon have lots of different forms, too.
What Are Forms?
Forms, in the simplest terms, are the various different ways that Pokemon exist. Deoxys, for example, has different forms that alter both its appearance and stat distributions. Others have regional forms, being the same Pokemon but with different looks and types depending on the region they're in.
As the series has gone on, plenty of form types have been added, letting older Pokemon have another chance to shine. This applies mostly to Gen 1 Pokemon, getting most of the highlights of regional forms, but plenty of games introduce Pokemon that utilise forms unique to that entry as well.
Regional Forms
Introduced with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Sun & Moon, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:regional forms give older Pokemon, all from Kanto in their first appearance, a new look and type to fit their evolution in other regions.
For example, Alolan Raichu gains the Psychic type and uses its tail to surf, and Alolan Exeggutor becomes a giant p♋alm t🦹ree with the Dragon type.
The trend continued in later games too, with many Pokemon gaining unique forms to the Paldea and Galar regions. For𒁃 the most part, each Pokemon only gets one regional f🌺orms, with only a few exceptions:
- Meowth gets a new regional form in both Alola and Galar, with its Galarian form even having a unique new evolution.
- Tauros gets three regional forms, all in just Paldea.
By this merit, Tauros already has the most regional forms despite only appearing in a single game.
Alternate Forms
Some Pokemon have unique forms that are linked to their respective games. Usually, this comes in the form of extra gameplay elements for legendary and mythical Pokemon, but also extends to some regular Pokemon as well. This one is a bit wider than other forms, as it encompasses everything that isn't a regional form, or tied to a specific game mechanic.
Most Legendary and Mythical Pokemon have some unique gameplay, such as Deoxys' forms changes to alter their stats, or the Legendary trio of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Black & White's ability to be fused together to form a hybrid form.
It can﷽ be hard to catalogue these forms, but in terms of t🍎hese unique Pokemon, the following four have the highest number of alternate forms:
- Arceus has 18 forms to correspond to the 18 Types it can change into.
- Rotom has six different forms they can take on, each a different appliance and type acquired with each.
- Deoxys has four different forms they get by interacting with meteors that also alters their stats.
- Necrozma has four different forms. One by themselves, another two when fused with either Solgaleo or Lunala, and a final Ultra Necrozma form.
When looking at non-Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, alternate forms get a bit more interesting. For many, they are simple chan𝔍ges and many even random.
For example, almost every single Spinda has a unique spot pattern. Deerling s🌜pawn꧒ with a different coat depending on the season in Black & White.
Even though it might be unfair seeing as which form appears is out of your control, let's see which Pokemon have the most alternate forms.
- Spinda can potentially have up to 3,945,136,128 different forms based on pattern distributions. Good luck on the Living Dex for that.
- Unown has 28 different forms to match letters of the Latin alphabet and other symbols.
- Silvally, like Arceus, has 18 different forms to match each Type.
- Alcremie has 63 different forms based on how much you spin and what item it is holding upon evolution.
- Furfrou has eight different forms based on the various stylish haircuts you can give it.
- Vivillion has 20 different forms that are determined by the real-world region in which the Pokemon is encountered.
Gimmick Forms
Some games introduced unique mechanics that later had no reasonable means of being reintroduced, meaning that the new forms of Pokemon introduced in them were also trapped in their respective games. These include the systems of Mega Evolutions and Gigantamaxing.
The majority of Pokemon, like with regional forms, only have a single Megaꦗ Evolution or Gigantamaxed form, thougꦍh there are some exceptions.
- Mewtwo and Charizard, who both have two Mega-Evolved forms.
- Charizard also features a Gigantamaxed form.
- Urshifu features two Gigantamaxed forms based on the battle style it has.
Though some other Pokemon have both a Mega Evolved and Gigantamaxed form, none have the same amount combined as Charizard, with a total of three across the games.
Which Pokemon Has The Most Forms?
When it comes to the single Pokemon that has the most forms, it is an easy question to answer. Spinda has over 3,000,000. Though, seeing as it is completely random, it is fair to say Alcremie has the most forms with 63.
However, if you were to ask which Pokemon has the highest number of form types, then the answer would be... none of them. Plenty of Pokemon have two or three different form types. Charizard has both a Mega and Gigantamꦬaxed form. Meowth has regional forms and a Giganatamax form.
If you were to split the differences even more, perhaps you could get a deeper and more precise answer. As it stands now, no specific Pokemon is given a special preference in terms of pure number of types of forms.
