Despite five million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles being sold in its first month on shelves, chances are you probably don’t have one yet. That may be because, unless you’re on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Amazon’s super exclusive invite list, you can’t find onꦐe for sale. But more than likely, you just don’t think there’s enough games on the Switch 2 yeꩵt to justify the price tag.

Donkey Kong Bananza Is Yet Another Switch 2 Game Not Taking Advantage Of The Console's Best Feature
If you experience som𝔍e nasty frame rate drops in Donkey Kong Bananza, this is🦩 probably why.
That’s understandable. If you’re anything like our own Chris Hayner, you’re probably disappointed t🐈hat Mario Kart World is the only major new game on♊ the Switch 2 at release. A few more titles are trickling in throughout the rest of the year, but for the more patient gamers among us, it might be hard to❀ know the right time to pull the trigger. Whether you’re waiting for the right game to drop or simply for the Switch 2 to hit a critical mass of exclusives, here are some things to consider.
2025 Still Has Some Big Switch 2 Releases
Early adopters will soon be treated to Donkey Kong Bananza, a new platformer that bears some striking similarities to Super Mario Odyssey. There’s a good reason for that, as Ni༒ntendo rܫecently confirmed Bananza was developed by the same team (though under a different company, strangely).
As iconic as Donkey Kong is as a character, his games have a spotty history with finding success. In 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a recent hands-on preview, TheGamer’s Editor-in-Chief Stacey Henley described Donkey Kong Bananza as “fantastic to play and full of charm”, which is a pretty glowing endorsement for a Nintendo game, considering its coming from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the woman who thi🧔nks Tea🔜rs of the Kingdom is mid.
If you were going to buy a Switch for Donkey Kong Bananza, you probably already have it. You could be waiting for the Switch 2 update for Super Mario Party Jamboree, the Kirby and the Forgotten Land expansion, or Drag X Drive, all launching in the next two months. But it’s more likely you’re holding out for something bigger. Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment are the last two major Switch 2 exclusives launching in 2025, though neither sequꦉel has a date yet.
Besides exclusives, there are a few games with exclusive Switch 2 features. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support mouse controls on the Switch 2. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I played it myself earlier this year and I foundꦐꦬ the seamless transition between motion, mouse, and standard controls to be pretty impressive.
168✱澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Legends: Z-A w🔴ill have a Switch 2 version with enhanced performance and visuals, and if you played the first Legends on Switch, you already know how valuable those improvements will be. Speaking of technical enhancements, the Switch 2 already gives a huge boost to a few games, including 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Civilization 7, and The Legend of Zelda games.
What Will Be The Switch 2’s Major System Seller?
The Switch 2, like every Nintendo console, will have a few major milestones in its lifecycle. It’s likely a lot of people will jump on the new handheld when the next Pokemon generation starts. With all eyes on this year’s Legends game we haven’t heard anything about Gen 10 yet. Given the usual cadence of P𝓰okemon games we can ꧑probably expect the next mainline entries to launch before the end of 2026.
Of course, we’re long overdue for a mainline Mario game, too. S𝐆uper Mario Odyssey launched the same year as the original Switch and never got a sequel. We know that team is working on Donkey Kong Bananza now, but it would still be surprising if Nintendo didn’t have a new Mario coming within the next year. If you’re not buying a Switch 2 for a new Mario, what would you buy one for?
Other rumored games include a Switch 2 version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with a new fighter pass, which would assuredly move some units. Beyond that is really anyone’s guess. A new Fire Emblem? More Mario remakes? The Wind Waker!? Knowing Nintendo, the most interesting Sw𒁏itch 2 games will be the ones we don't𒈔 even know to expect.
Wait For The Right Version Of The Switch 2
Of course, the longer you wait the more Switch 2s you’ll be able to choose from. If you don’t buy one now you might be able to get a Pokemon-themed version when Gen 10 comes out, or a Switch 2 Lite if you wait a couple of years. We cou🔯ld get a new OLED, or a Switch 2 Pro, or some other kind of weird Switch 2 refresh no one is anticipating. Nintendo reward𝓡s you for waiting to upgrade with its special edition rereleases. Or you can be like me and collect a bunch of them just because you like the colors.
For what it's worth, there’s more than enough to do with the Switch 2 already. Mario Kart World may be the only major game, but I’ve had a blast revisiting a lot of older Switch games with improved performance, and mouse mode makes games like Civ and Cyberpunk 2077 feel totally different to play. It’s a bigger, sturdier console that’s more comfortable to hold and nicer to look at, so I’m happy I made the jump right away. But the question remains, if you’re waiting to buy a Switch 2, what is it you’re waiting f🌱or?
