In this guide, we explain how this system works, showcase all available Chapters, and explain how to customize your Space Marine.

What Is Astartes Heraldry?

Space Marine 2 Heraldry Menu

The Adeptus Heraldry is a collection of Space Marine cosmetics that you can unlock through gameplay. These cosmetics are tied to Chapters, branches of the Astartes military in the Warhammer 40K universe. Space Marine Chapters have rich backstories and unique personalities, but for the purposes of this system, Chapters are cosmetic only. They have 𒀰no impact on combat or gameplay systems.

Space Marine 2's Heraldry system is broken u🍃p into four categories: Astartes, Heretic, Unknown Origins, and Ultramari🍷nes.

Customization is also available for Chaos Space Marines, although it's not quite as varied as the loyalist Astartes. Heretic Astartes cosmetics only apply to Chaos Space Marines, which are currently only playable in Eternal War (PvP) content. Unfortunately, you can only customize the color palette and decals of Chaos Space Marines. Unique armor pieces are not available for Hereti🎀c Astartes as of launch.

Customizing Your Space Marine

The customization menu is bro🍷ken up into two tabs:

  1. Armor Sets: Adjust your Space Marine's armor.
  2. Astartes Chapters: Modify your armor colors and emblems.

Armor Sets is where you can adjust the physical armor of your Space Marine. The game has a handful of pre-configured armor sets by default that you can unlock by completing multiplayer matches. The more Operations or PvP matches you finish🌺🍸, the more sets you'll unlock.

Custom armor sets are where you can really start to customize your character. This lets you adjust every part of your Space Marine's armor, including their helmet, chest, backpack, shoulders, pauldrons, and greaves. If your class has any visible Wargear—such as an Assault Marine's or a Bastion's shield—it'll appear in this menu. Any Chapter-specific armor pieces will also appear in this menu.

Changing Your Colors

Astartes Chapters is where you can ch🐈ange your armor colors and visible emblems. Once again, you can opt to use a pre-existing 40K Chapter or create a custom color palette. Chapter options can be unlocked in the Heraldry menu.

If you create a custom Chapter, you'll be able to adjust the pattern, color, and all visible emblems on your armor. This is done through a rule system for each of your armor pieces. General Rules apply to your entire armor set, while Custom Rules are exceptions that only apply to specific armor p♓ieces. You can have a custom rule for𝄹 each armor piece.
