Space Marine 2 has gone from strength to strength to fatal weakness. That may seem like a decent number, but this is a game that people had been raving about until now.

Zoant🙈hropes were always the worst enemy in Space Marine 2. There’s a mi🐓ssion in the campaign where you have to deal with multiple of the flying psychic bastards while fighting through a Ripper Swarm so 𓂃thick you can’t see the steel floor beneath your feet. However, they’re even worse in PvE.

In the campaign, Titus is nearly always equipped with a ranged weapon. That’s not always the case in PvE. If you’re running the Assault class (guilty) or you love playi💮ng as a Breacher, you only have close combat weapons. You usually have a sidearm, but that’s only useful for killing a Gaunt and won’t touch an Extremis opponent.

Here’s where Zoanthropes get really annoying. As a close combat character, you have no way of touching a flying monster. There’s also no way to parry ranged attacks, making you more vulnerable to damage from th🐭ese creatures. That would be an even more pressing issue if parrying wasn’t broken in this update, too.

On top of Zoanthropes already being annoying, the latest update seems to spawn them all the time. Their attacks are more frequent too, and iFrames or hitboxes seem to have been altered so dodging out of the꧑ way feels impossible. Put simply, fighting against Zoanthropes fee🐬ls terrible, and is ruining players’ fun.

Space Marine 2 Needs To Make It Up To The Players

The first step for Saber is to immediately roll back these changes. Again referencing the live-service game I know so well, Apex Legends has done this in the past. Remember when Seer launched? The Charge Rifle in Season 3? Respawn worked quickly to rework these Legends and weapons, nerfing Seer into the gro🀅und immediately to slowly build him back up in a more balanced manner.

Whatever updates the new patch pushed need to be pulled. After that, while the developers quietly work on fixing the update in the background, the developers should give the players something. Some kind of cosmetic, a fancy skin for a weapon, enough currency to unlock one Chapter’s colours, or ꦿsomething.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think the players need compensation. But Saber desperately needs to get them back onside if it wants to keep its live-service gam♊e alive, and the best way to do that is with free stuff. Players love free stuff. I love free stuff. If Space Marine 2 was rolled back to its previous state and players also got a nifty little Dark Angels upgrade for their troubles, it would go a long way to smoothing things over.

If Saber follow༒s that up with slower paced, better thought out updates, then players will stay happy. I understand the urge to keep adding more, more, more, when players’ attention is being pulled away at every turn, but updates need to be careful and considered. And Zoanthropes need to get in the sea.
