What Does Finesse Do?

Finesse modifies two attributes on any weapon for which it is a Bonus Stat. First, it increases the weapon's attack speed, usually by the same amount for both light 𒁃and heavy attacks. This means more o🐬pportunities to deal damage in a given engagement!

Finesse also acts as a damage multiplier for critical hits and attacks on an enemy's weak spot. This is usually the head, but some Elite foes like the Beast of Nurgle have different weaknesses.

How To Check Finesse Bonuses

An Achlys Mk 8 Combat Axe with its Finesse stat highlighted in Warhammer 40k: Darktide

When you've selected a weapon, choose the Inspect option to get a detailed breakdown of all its stats. There, you can highlight the Finesse Bonus Stat to see exactly how t𝐆h𒅌at weapon is affected by Finesse.

For example, take a look at the two weapons displayed above. The Catachan Devil's Claw Sword more than doubles its power when a heavy attack hits a weak spot; that means you'll want to go for the head and swing as hard as you can! This particular Devil's Claw hits with a power of 84.15 with light attacks to a weak spot, and 343.5 with heavy attacks.

The Achlys Combat Axe, on the other hand, gets a larger attack speed bonus from Finesse, but actually suffers a damage penalty when hitting weak spots. That's because the Achlys is primarily an armor-piercing weapon. However, the weapon's base damage is higher, so after applying Finesse, its weak spot power is 158.36 for light attacks and 169.46 for heavy attacks. That makes it much better for just swinging away as fast as you can than the Devil's Claw, but its heavy attacks aren't significantly better than its light attacks.

Taking time to fire up your calculator while choosing a weapon💮 can go a long way toward getting you more wins!
