It's several hours into the game before Corestones come into play in a tangible way. As such, we figured a great many of our fellow gamers will be scratching heads, wondering whether they missed a tutorial somewhere along the way. You probably didn't! ﷽Here's how to use Corestones in Visions of Mana.

Corestones, Explained

Niccolo opens his emporium in Illystana in Visions of Mana

Every time you defeat a monster, there's a chance that they'll drop a Corestone named after their species. For instance, Rabite Corestone is acqiured from Rabites, Chobin Hood Corestone from Chobin Hoods, and so forth.

Nemeses and bosses have unique Corestones which are only acquirable a single time. On the flip side, they're guaranteed to drop.

Until your return to Illystana following the Luka Ruins dungeon, Corestones will simply take up space in your inventory - they're entirely devoid of value. Everything changes once you meet Niccolo, whose emporium offers Corestone-related services.

How To Gain Ability Seeds Via Corestones

Visions of Mana's corestone ability seed conversion explanation

Niccolo's shopkeep will accept Corestones in exchange for specific equippable Ability Seeds. Every Corestone in Visions of Mana is exchangable, as this is its sole purpose; rarer Corestones will grant ever more powerful abilities.

After the emporium opens up, other shops will also offer this same service, so no need to constantly rush ඣback to Illystana.

Ability Seed availability will change as you gain new Corestones, until, by endgame, there are some very fine choices. You can also turn in Corestones you don't need for Niccolo Coins, which are in turn used to acquire other Ability Seeds.

In conclusion, then, Corestones are directly linked to a majority of the Ability Seeds you will ever acquire, and therefore far more valuable t🍌han th🌱ey'll seem early on!
