If you are playing with someone else and they die, you can continue to fight. The boss will not regain health, and you can fight normally.

If you are worried about losing items upon death, try heading into a fight holding nothing but your armor and equipment.

Upon death, these items will stay with you; this means that you will not need to go back to the site of your death and retrieve any items.

If, on the other hand, you are playing alone, the boss will regain all of their health. Keep this in mind if you are low on health; instead of fighting, it's okay to take a second and kite the boss around while you use a heath potion or a healing spell.
