Updated May 16, 2024 by Jacqueline Zalace: Cotton is an important mid-level resource in V Rising, so we've updated this guide to have a bit more information. You can now find a few cotton farm locations, as well as information on how to grow cotton from your castle.

Cotton Farms In The Dunley Farmlands

Cotton can be gathered from Cotton Farms, making it quite easy to find. While looking at the map, you can see some areas called Cotton Farms; these locations have cotton growing everywhere, allowing you to quickly gather it with a sword or scythe.

Hovering over areas will ಌdispജlay the important items that you can find there.

Not all farms grow cotton; you will need to either venꦉture into the area or check the info panel when hovering over the location on the map.

Cotton Farm Locations

Overall, the best way to find cotton is to simply explore, but we can help you out and prov🐲ide a few cotton farm locations.

Nearest Landmark

How To Get There (From Waygate)

Dawnbreak Village (this farm is directly to the right)

Head northeast from the Waygate south of Dawnb📖reak Village (near the entrance to Farbane Woods).

Bastion of Dunley (this farm is to the south)

There is Waygate halfway between the bastion and the cotton farm; simply head south from the gat🅰e.

Haunted Iron Mine (this farm is slightly to the northwest)

The Wagate is a bit far, near the left path to the Farbane Woods. Head northea𝓀st from here and you will come across two cotton farms.

Dunley Lumber Mill (cotton can be gathered within this location)

A Waygate is slightly east of this location.

How To Avoid Garlic Exposure

While farming cotton, you will most likely be exposed to garlic. Many of the structures will have garlic hanging from them, which will affect you if you get too🔜 close.

Unlike other damage types, this will not instantly cause damage. Instead, it will cause you to take more damage and smell bad, which increases the chances of an enemy spotting you.

If you just want to farm, avoid enemies, and head home, then you don't really have to worry about garlic. Just be sure thꦅat the effect is gone bef꧟ore you head out to slay.

If you are quick enough and don't plan on engaging in combat, you can gather cotton while gaining stacks of the garlic debuff. Once hostile enemies approach, 🌟you ca⛄n simply run away without putting yourself at risk.

Alternatively, you can also craft a garlic potion. The recipe for the Minor Garlic Resistance Brew only requires the following materials🐷.

  • 1x Rat
  • 1x Empty Waterskin

How To Grow Cotton

v rising player growing cotton

When harvesting cotton in the wild, you may come across seeds. This is great! It means that you can now plant your own cotton, which cuts out the entire exploration aspect o🦩f gathering it.

From the building menu, you can lay down some gardening plots and plant your cotton seeds. After a short amount of time, the cotton will grow. Plants continuously grow, so once you harvest cotton, you don't have to replant it; they will continue to make more cotton that can be harvested again.

We suggest setting up some growing plots quickly after getting cotton seeds. You can completely avoid garlic exposure if you just farm 🎉it yourse🐷lf!

Cotton is primarily used to make cotton yarn at the Loom. This is a piece of equipment that you will learn after defeating Beatrice the Tailor, who is a level 40 boss found in Dawnbreak Village.

Beatrice is the first boss in Act Two.

This boss prefers not to fight, so you will essentially need to chase her around. The real challenge of this boss fight is to defeat all the other enemies in the village, which range from level 30 to 40.

Once you have built a Loom, you can use 16 cotton to craft one cotton yarn. Remember, if you have the Tailor's Floor in an enclosed room, the cost🔴 will be reduced.
