Unpacking might just be one of the most wholesome and cozy indies games around. In Unpacking, you follow the life of someone as they move through various years and stages of life from the perspective of moving and unpacking. While that may sound mundane, it actually provides an insight into someone's hopes, dreams, choices, changes, and life decisions.
The gameplay consis🅰ts of unpacking boxes and decorating rooms such as bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and bathrooms as you see fit. Eventually there is less space so you need to be strategic with how you place the items as the game progresses. With so many items to unpack and look at, it's easy to miss some of the finer details and loving touches made by the developers.10 My Little Pony 🐬
There is a fantastic detail in regards to 90s era toys in the first bedroom stage of the game. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:If you remember My Little Ponies then the two ponies you take out of the box will b⛄ring a smile to your face. These two ponies are clearly modele𒅌d after the beloved toys from years gone by.
While you could make the case that these are just regular horse toys, you can tell they are inspired by My Little Ponies due to ⛄their cartoony facial features, small bodies, and side-parted hair.
9 Tomagatchi Or Giga Pet 🌠
Tomagatchi's and Giga Pet's were all the rage in the early 90s. For those of you that didn't grow up in that time period, Tomagatchis and Giga Pets were small, pocket-sized 1♉68澳洲幸运5开奖网:virtual pets that you would care for every day.
Long before the likes of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nintendogs, these💦 oval-shaped pocket buddies allowed you to care for a little blob creature. There was a great sense of attachment to these pets, so much so that many schools banned them. The kids bedroom stage in Unpacking features a yellow one of these toys.
8 ♕ Remember Troll Dollsඣ?
It's quite obvious that the devs at Witch Beam have fond memories of the 90s gi🐻ven the sheer staggering number of references they use throughout the game. Another one of the toys dolls you can find early on in the game are troll dolls.
Do 𒉰you remember troll dolls? Troll dolls, for the uninitiated, were small, adorable action figures with long colorful hair. You were the coolest kid on the block if you managed to have one of these creatures, or, better yet, a whole collection.
7 Yep, Those Arᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚe Cassette Tapes
Long before streaming, downloading, and even CDs, came cassette ta▨pes. Cassette taps, much like VCR videos allowed you to play your favorite music. The reason the whole term mixtape become popular was due to these rectangular pieces of musical go♋odness.
Unpacking fea💞tures a wonderful homage to cassette tapes all throughout the game. You can find a fun holding container that stores a plethora of these musical devices.
6 🅺 A Possible Pe꧒ter Pan Book
Okay, this could be a stretch, but there is a kids storybook that is very reminiscent of the Golden Book era of children's books. This book which you stumble across in the first stage looks eerily similar to Peter Pan. Th🦹e✤re is a shadow of someone flying across the moon along with a P.P. where the title would be.
It's so fun to see ambiguous references like this in Unpacking because it shows a clear and loving attention to detail fr🐽om the devs. If you remember Golden Books then this detail will immediately pop oꦰut to you.
5 Operation Board Game Duplicate 🅷
Board games were incredibly popular in the latter part of the 20th century. While board games are makin👍g a major resurgence ℱfor millennials, you may not remember Operation. Operaꦑtion was essentially a surgery game where you would have to take out bones, organs, and th🐬e like without hitting a metal buzzer area.
Unpacking once again brings the nostalgia with a board game called Procedure. It's incredibly 🌄obvious if you zoom the camera in that Procedure harkens back to the days of Operꩲation, a beloved classic.
4 That Has To Be A 🍰Gameboy
One of the more fun video game peripherals you can find in Unpacking is what looks to be a red Gameboy. The buttons aren't quite sജet like they were o🅰n a Gameboy, however, this handheld gaming device is at least very similar.
Gameboys, along with the underappreciated 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sega Game Gear, were on many kids'♎ wishlists in the 90s. The handheld gaming system in Unpacking moves with you from year to year as you progress in the game.
3 Putting Your Toothbrush In A Mug ꦍ
This hidden detail might sound completely silly and even superfluous, however, it's something many people might remember when growing up. The joy of Unpacking is that you can put items almost anywhere, at least in the e꧑arlier stages. Oftentimes, items will be in one box in a whole different room.
Such is the case with the toothbrush and smiley mug. In the second stage of the game you can fin🌃d a toothbrush𒁏 followed by the aforementioned mug. Now, you can either lay them down separately or you can combine them to add the toothbrush to the mug. It's simple but charming all the same.
2 A George Foreman Grill ꦜ 🍨
As soon as you get to the first kitchen area you can find what looks to be a George Foreman grill. For those that are unfamiliar, a George Foreman grill is a tiny electric grill that can easily and efficiently 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:cook many items from the comfort o💛f your kitchen.
This red and black grill looks near identical to a George Forman, minus the branding of course. Since it's quite large in the game you will probably have to store it on the top of the cabinets. Just be sure not to burn your foot on it when cooking your bacon. If you are an Office fan then that reference will surely bring a smile tꦺౠo your face.
1 ඣ The Same Stuffed Animals
One of the more special parts of Unpacking is when you see certain items transition from year to year as you move forward in the gam📖e. There is some wonderful environmental storytelling in these moments because you get to see what the character finds val𒐪uable.
Some of the items that come with you during you꧒r playthrough are your stuffed animals, namely, the cute pig and the adorable kitty cat. Yes, even as you go off to college or move in with your partner, those stuffed animals join you in your next chapter.
