You might know her for becoming Yennefer, one of The Witcher’s most interesting and complex characters, in Netflix’s adaptation of the original works by Andrzej Sapkowski, but I sit down with Anya Chalotra to discuss her debut in video game acting. She plays Haroona, a young Quaestor who can access a dimension called the Fold and interact with other people’s souls, in the forthcoming action-adventure title 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Unknown 9: Awakening.

Despite the numberꦿ in the title, Unknown 9: Awakening isn’t a sequel to a previous video game. Its world, however, is already explored in books and comics.

“When I do play video games, I love it and I think I could get ꦬattached If I played them all because you're transported to a whole new world,” says Chalotra. “I played Mario Kart and things like that with my family. But The Witcher was probably 𒆙the first time I took an interest in them. [It] was on another level.”

Chalotra never thought she was going to act in games, but she recalls that she always wanted to do motion captureꦿ due to her interest in physical theater. When asked about her first experience with this technology, she defined it as a turning point in her career.

“It's like nothing I've ever done before. Probably theater lends itself best to this way of working: you step into a space called The Volume and play in the round. Motion capture… was the most free I've ever felt as an actor. You have no makeup on, you're in a leotard of sorts, a onesie with dots all over you, ve💃lcro strips everywhere, and a camera on your head. You'd think all those things would be obstacles, but no. It's like going back to being a child.”

When thinking about what makes Haroona unique from other game protagonists, Chalotra remarks on her resilience. This is a character learning how to deal with her power and how to make “the right choices”, which will forge her into a better person for her world and tꦺhe people around her. There have been comparisons with other🍌 popular action heroes like Uncharted’s Nathan Drake and Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft, and while Chalotra feels amazed by it, she wants you to know that Haroona “is a completely different character, in a completely different world.”

“She's a really funny character,” Chalotra says. “I think everyone else just sees it as blunt or dismissive, but she's got too much going on and the world to deal with. People just expect her to deal with them. But she's got far bigger things to ඣworry about, and I think it's a really funny dynamic.”

Speaking of Unknown 9’s world, the ga𝔍me takes place in a fictional Indian city called Chamiri. Chalotra is part British and part Indian, and she sounds really grateful to be able to play a character based on her family roots.

“What's annoying is that in every part I play, I have to be either one half,” she explains. “But I bring both💧 to this character. I've loved working in an Indian accent. It comes very easily to me because [of] my family and I've grown up around it. I'm heavily influenced by my Indian culture, so it feels odd that I'm not playing more Indian parts, to be honest. It's just who I am. So it gives me real joy to be in this cast, play her, and celebrate this culture through the world that's been constructed. I hope people see and feel that.”

It seems like magic fo꧑llows Chalora’s life, since she’s moving from one character surrounded by the world of spells, prophecies, and curses to ano🌃ther. However, she doesn’t feel like there are many similarities between Yennefer and Haroona.

“They are entirely different characters,” she says. “They have supernatural powers, but that's about it. They come from completely different worlds: one of them is in search of unconditional love and connection to the world, and the other [already] has a deep connection to her world. I suppose they're both resi𒀰lient, [but] I just think they're so different.”

One of the characters that Haroona meets is Luther, a gunslinger with a strong bond with the spiritual realm. It seems like he will be the main partner in her journey. Chalotra likes the relationsh🔥ip between the two characters, and she hopes you can feel something significant about their bond.

“They teach each other a 🐟lot,” she explains. “I thin꧟k, instinctively, they're very wary of each other — and they should be in this world. Haroona doesn't initially give a lot to Luther. [If you] give someone what they want or what they think they want, I think that really helps a friendship form. Hesitant relationships aren’t as great. [Haroona and Luther] can learn a lot about each other in their temperament and the way they communicate.”

Chalotra’s future is uncertain. She wants to bꦬe in more video games, and she’d love to continue Haroona’s story if there’s room for that. However, she can’t tell me about any future projects in the industry. Her mind and time are occupied with the role that made her a well-known name.

“The Witcher is my future right now, and I don't know how long it will be. I th𝓰ink it will forever be,” she says with a laugh. “ If there's life away from it, I don't know what that is yet.”
