As soon as the Battle For Lonteria starts, you'll witness the Gryphon Knight troop using the Hastened Call Valor skill and moving towards your command post quite fast. Pause the battle as fast as you can and deploy a set of hunters with a strong front line to deal with the Gryphon Knights. Keep in mind that these enemies can easily dodge ground attacks, so you'll either need Rolf, Auch, or other recruited units that can target airborne enemies.
While you can deploy two sets of units at the start, it's recommended to place the unit that you want to fight the Gryphon Knights with near them.
