Over the last decade orꦯ so, Naughty Dog has created some of the most iconic characters in the history of gaming and, while most other developers have fallen into the open world trap, they've stuck to their guns, and they've truly mastered the art of lineꦇar storytelling. They are, in my opinion, the best developer in gaming.

The main complaint about Naughty Dog's games, specifically Uncharted, which is what we're here to talk about, is that there's far too many cut scenes, which would be a legitimate complaint if the story completely stunk, but that's never the case. Even in Uncharted 3, which in m🍷y opinion was extremely underwhelming, the cut sc🅰enes were never a problem.

But, just because they're great at building memorable characters and telling incredible stories doesn't mean that they haven't created some pre♍tty horrible characters. Luckily though, the good always outweighs the bad in Naughty Dog's games and that's what we're going to get into right now.

15 Love: Victor 'Sully' Sullivan

via Sony/Naughty Dog

Honestly, I wasn't much of a fan of Sully's during most of Drake's Fortune, simply because I thought that he was going to turn his back on Nathan. Luckily, and thankfully, I was wrong, because the Nate/Sully🤡 relationship is quite possibly the best thing about the entire series.

When I first played Uncharted 3, I thought that Sully was going to be killed at some point in the game and I legitimately panic🌟ked when he got shot towards its end. But, again, thankfully it was just a hallucination.

Throughout the series, Nate has had several sidekicks, but no matter who was standing by his side, whether it be Chloe, Ele💫na, or Charlie Cutter, Sully wa🍰s almost always right there with him, watching his back, and it's pretty hard to hate a loyal friend like that.

14 Hate: Gabriel Roman

via Sony/Naughty Dog

Gabriel Roman was one of the more dull characters in the Uncharted series. In fact, neither of the two main villains in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune were all that great.

Unlike with the villains in subsequent games, Roman really doesn't do anything dastardly. Sure, in the beginning of the game he takes a shot at Sully, but at the time, even if you believed that he actually killed Nate'🔴s mentor, you probably didn't have much sympathy because you really didn't know anything about their relationship. Also, as previously mentioned, I personally believed that Sully wasn't dead and that he was going to end up being the game's main villain. So, Roman taking a shot at him didn't rea༒lly bother me that much.

Also, throughout most of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Naughty Dog positions Rom🐷an as the game's main bad guy. However, near the end of the game, that changes due to his death✤ -- a death that really wasn't satisfying to the player at all.

Hate is probably too strong of a word to describe my feelings towards the Gabriel Roman character, because, to me, he was just dull and uninteresting. Drake's Fortune would've been much better than it was if Roman would've joined forces with Nate and Sully in an attempt to take down Navarro, who was the game's true main villain. 💫Instead though, he just died and the player didn't even get to kill him.

13 Love: Rafe Adler

via Sony/Naughty Dog

When you compare Rafe -- who made his series debut in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End -- to the villains of the previous game, he may seem like the best bad guy in the series. In fact, I'd put him right up there with Lazarević as the best Uncharted villain.

However, unlike with Lazarević, you don't fear Rafe at any point in the game, simply because he's not an intimidating character. He's just a grown up rich kid who got everything handed to him on silver platter. He's also a complete sociopath, as he pretends to🙈 care about people just so they'll do his bidding.

Nate's battle with Rafe on the burning pirate ship may be the best boss fight in the entire series and, when it became time for him to die, I was actually pret🅰ty bummed out, because I was hoping that he'd escap🎶e the burning ship with Nate and Sam.

12 Hate: Rameses

Rameses had potential to be one of the best characters in Uncharted 3, but instead, he fell into the Roman camp of villains that I just didn't care about. And while your journey to find Sully [who Rameses kidnaps and holds hostage, or, actually not r𒁏eally. He just fools Nate into thinking that he did] is filled with memorable moments, most notably escaping the sinking ship, I couldn't help but be disappointed with it when it was over simply because it could've one of𒀰 the most amazing parts of the entire series if Rameses would've been a better character. At the very least we should've seen more of him than we did.

Not living up to expectations is kind of the theme of Uncharted 3, as it's wi♓dely considered to be the worst game in the series. So, it's only fitting that Rameses꧋ wasn't as great as he could've been.

11 Love: Eddy Raja

via Sony/Naughty Dog

Would you be shocked if I told you that Eddy Raja was my second favorite character in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune above everyone else with the exception of Nate? Because 🎉that's what I'm about to tell you🌳.

I've seen so many different people completely trash 🐟Eddy Raja because he was mor🐼e of a comedic villain that no one really took seriously, unlike with the series' other antagonists. But, in my opinion, that's what makes him so great.

Like with Rafe, I was hoping that Eddy and Nate would become friends at 🌄some point in the game and, while they don't exactly become friends, they do fight by each other's side in order to fend off all of the Descendants, who are the monsters created by the Wrath of El Dorado. Sadly though, Eddy doesn't escape with his life, which was a huge let down for me.

10 Hate: Harry Flynn

via Sony/Naughty Dog

Hallelujah it's raining BAGS! That's all I think about whenever I see Harry Flynn. If you don't watch RobinGaming on YouTube or Twitch, you won't get it. In which case, I strongly recommend that you check him out, especially if you're an Uncharted fan, which you cl🐠early are because you're reading this article. Also, me, nor this site is affiliated with Robin's channel, this is purely just my own recommendation.

Now, on to why Flynn is so horrible.

Flynn is easily the dumbest character in the entire series. Why? Well, here's a list of all the stupid things that he did in Uncharted 2: he joins forces with Lazarević, he can't see that Nate and Chloe are ho♍oking up behind his back until the last couple hours of the game, he's terrible at his job, so terrible that he has to get Nate to do his job for him, and he kills himself with a grenade while he's injured, even though he probably c🍰ould've made it out of Shambhala alive -- Elena did, and she was in way worse shape than he was.

9 Love: Charlie Cutter

via finder.com

Charlie Cutter was introduced in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and he was a great addition to the protagonist side. Of course, there is a brief moment in the game where you don't exactly trust him, but that's due to the hallucinogenic drug that the game's main villain, 🐟Talbot, forced him to consume via a dart to the neck. At one point, Cutter nearly kills Nate and, because of that, Sully almost kills Cutter. Thankfully, neither of those two deaths occured.

Unfortunately, Cutter was left out of Uncharted 4, although Nate did mention him in the beginning chapters. There's a rumor going around which suggests that Naughty Dog is going to bring him back in The Lost Legacy and I, for one, really hope that the rumor ends up being true. Also, I'd probably be way more hyped for The Lost Legacy if it was Cutter and Chloe instead of Nadine Ros🅠s (you'll see why in a second) and Chloe.

8 Hate: Nadine Ross

I'm not sure what I hate more, the Nadine Ross character, or how Naughty Dog cho⛎se to portray her. Look, I get it, Neil Druckmann, who is the ☂company's creative director, is a big time feminist, but he shouldn't let his politics interfere with common sense.

At one point in the game, Nadine beats 🤪up both Drake brothers at the exact same time, which is completely ridiculous. I'm not saying that a woman who's a trained fighter can't beat up a man, but two at the same time?! It's also ridiculous when you consider the fact that both Nate and Sam took out an entire gang by themselves with their fists during their stint in a Panamanian prison. So, they're no slouches when i🍎t comes to hand to hand combat either.

I am, however, excited to see what they do with Nadine in The Lost Legacy, which should be coming out a little later this year. But please, Naughty Dog, no more of her be𒁃ating up multiple peopl at the exact sam🎃e time. I'm cool with her taking out a man in a one on one fight, but not when she's out numbered. Also, for the record, I'd be annoyed if it was the other way around -- I'd have a huge issue with Nate beating up two females at the same time if they were both trained fighters.

7 Love: Elena Fisher

via Sony/Naughty Dog

I don't think it's possible for anyone to not love Elena. Sure, there are some problems with her character, like the fact that she's a broadcast journalist who's never shot a gun in her life, and then, outta nowhere, she knows how to handle every single firearm that she gets her hands on. She also wanted Nate to stop treasure hunting in both Uncharted 2 and 3, yet she encouraged him to take an illegal job in Uncharted 4. But, despite all of th🔯e flaws with her character, she's very li🌜kable.

When I first played Drake's Fortune, I actually didn't like her all that much. But, after a few hours, she began to grow on me, mostly because I was rooting for her and Nate to end up together, and thankfully they did. Again, her character has some flaws, but what I like about her is that, 🃏out of all the characters in the game, she's the most human, as🍒 she's really the only one in the series who fully understands and considers the danger and the consequences that come with Nate and Sully's line of work.

6 Hate: Sam Drake

The creation of Sam Drake was so unnecessary, and honestly, it didn't make any sense. Remember in Uncharted 3 when Marlowe gets a hold of Nate's file? She mentions his parents and she ev❀en knows that Drake isn't his real last name. So, it was a pret🐷ty in-depth file on Nate's life. Yet, Marlowe never mentioned that he had a brother. You would think that would be in there.

The thing about Sam is, he's the least trustworthy good guy in the series. It didn't help that the first trailer for the game suggesteꦛd that Sam was going to be a villain, which honestly, would've been a better role for him. But instead, we're supposed to look at him as a good guy after he lies to his brother's face about how he escaped from prison and almost ends Nate's marriage because of his own selfish interests.

Also, one point that I never hear brought up is, he told Nate that Hector Alcazar wanted half the treasure. So, what would've happened if Nate never found out the truth? Was Sam just gonna take the 50 percent f🎐or Alcazar, then take one third of what's remaining, which would be his cut with Nate and Sully?

In my opinion, the original script, which had Sam as the bad guy, probably would've been a heck of a lot better than the Uncharted 4 we ended up getting. I'm not saying that it's a bad game -- in fact, it's quite the opposite. It was my favorite game of 2016. But making Nate have a brother was so un🌌necessary.
