It has been a tumultuous weekend for indie developer Tripwire Interactive. Following an𝔉 anti-abortion ౠtweet from ex-CEO John Gibson, Tripwire announced late this evening that it would be appointing Alan Wilson as the interim CEOꦑ to help 𝓰lead the company for the foreseeable future.

Explaining that Gibson's comments do not reflect the values of the company, it has been decided that Gibson will step down immediately to be replaced by Wilson. Wilson has been with Tripwire since it was founded in 2005 and is an active leader in the studio's business and developmental departments. Wilson will be working directly with Tripwire's employees to see that their concerns are addressed promptly.

A message on Tripwire's official website explains, "Alan will work with the rest of the Tripwire leadership team to take steps with employees and partners to address their concerns including executing a company-wide town hall meeting and promoting an open dialogue with Tripwire leadership and all employees. His understanding of both the company’s culture and the creative vision of our games will carry the team through this transition, with full support from the other Tripwire leaders."

It's commendable for Tripwire Interactive to take such prompt action following Gibson's comments. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, but as indie developer Shipwright Studios wrote, "While your politics are your own, the moment you make them a matter of public discourse you entangle all of those working for and with you."
