Trinity Fusion is the latest title to bring the multiverse to gaming. Unlike in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:MultiVersus, though, it's not an excuse to bring characters from different IP together and make 'em fight. Instead, as in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Everything Everywhere All At Once, this 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:roguelite from Angry Mob Games stars multiple versions of the same character working together to make their way t♛hrough ꦅhostile worlds.

As I started my demo on the show floor at PAX East last month, I was presented with three characters to choose from. Kera wears a red tunic, has green hair, and wields a yellow sword, and can do a homing attack that cannonballs her toward foes or over platforming gaps. Naira has violet hair, a purple sweater, and black boots, but can turn invisible when she needs to sneak around enemies. Altaira has blue hair in Chun-Li buns and a robotic arm, and she can send out a drone which can fly through small cracks, then teleport to it. All three are alternate universe versions of the same woman, Maya, and they're on a quest to find harmonizers which, when used, will bring the timelines together again.

Once I select Naira, I’m dropped into a 2.5D world to engage in hack-and-slash action and platforming. This particular stage is a collection of slate gray sci-fi tunnels, bridges, and platforms with large, unfamiliar structures in the background. It’s crawling with a ridiculous number of enemies. In my first outing, I get my ass kicked pretty quickly because, as it turns out, I started on a more difficult stage with minimal health and scarce upgrades. I last longer on each subsequent run, especiall🌱y once I gain a power-up that causes a small amount of health to regenerate when I kill multiple enemies in quick succession. I also learn that there are plenty of breakable walls hiding throughout each level, with various useful items hiding behind them.

In addition to playing as multiple heroines, I also play through multiple distinct environments. The Outskirts are a dusty desert. Forge feels palpably hot, with glowing orange magma that peeks out of metal tanks, and which players will need to avoid in its pools along the ground. There's the Underground Labs, which are iron tunnels beneath the surface of the planet and Subterraria, which I don't see during my playtime, is also, obviously, subterranean, but with earthy interiors instead of sheet metal. Each of these levels feels slightly different, with enough aesthetic and gameplay tweaks to keep things interesting. The early access launch will have nine to begin with, but Angry Mob plans to add more as it approaches 1.0.

I was impressed by how authored much of what I played felt, but Craig Hauser, level and combat designer on Trinity Fusion, says that the game does indeed have procedurally generated levels. Hauser also notes that the story, which I didn’t get to see during my demo, will have an ending players can work toward and plenty of permanent progression. The multiverse setting means that the constant gains will entail unlocking new starting points where you can begin a new run. Over the course of my demo, I fo🍰und several points in each level that I could teleport between which make𒅌s it easier to explore the untouched corners of your map.

In another universe, Trinity Fusion is already out. In ours, it will launch in early access on April 13th on both Steam and Epic, and the full version of the game will hit PS5, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and Xbox One at some point down the road.
