Video games have come a very long way in a very short time. I still remember being in awe of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 7 - the original, not the remake - and truly believing video games had reached their visual peak. What I𒈔 didn’t realise until now is that action figures have experienced a similar arc.
However, unlike video games, which held my attention through adolescence and beyond, I fell off the action figure bandwagon when I was a kid. A combination of having a five-year-old and working with affiliates has thrust me back into the world of officially licensed toys.🧸 Turns out I was thoroughly unprepared for just how far they’ve come and just how much I’ve missed.
These Are Not The Transformers Figures I Had When I Was A Kid
How can you be unprepared for action figures? Let me explain. Hasbro very kindly offered to send me some of its latest 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Transformers. Since I’ve still not gotten over how good Transformers One 🅠was and, again, I have a child, I took them up 🔯on the offer.

I had Transformers toys when I was a kid, and despite the complexity of their on-screen counterparts, the toys wer🅷e pretty basic. Little bits of plastic that you could mess around with, sometimes needing to apply a little bit of brute force to ‘transform’ the vehicles into bipedal forms and back again. I was expecting something better from the Transformers figures of today, but not on this level. Today’s Transformers action figures are the epitome of why collectors 👍call people out for referring to them as toys. I get it now.
After removing them from their boxes and taking some glamor shots with the help/hindrance of🎃 my son, I attempted to transform one of the figures𝔉. I figured it would be as simple as it was to transform the toys of my youth, minus the need for brute force. It was not.
I won’t lie to you; I𝔉 was frustrated at first. But that frustration subsided when I picked up the box and the instructions fell out. They included just enough information to help transform the figur꧒es, but not so much that it takes away all the fun of trying to figure some of it out yourself.
All The Best Parts Of A Lego Set And A Rubik's Cube Combined
It was a♕bout halfway through transforming that first Transformer that it clicked - no꧟t the figure, although it did click a lot. Don’t worry, it’s supposed to do that. No, it dawned on me that unlike the simple toys that preceded them, the fun of these modern-day Transformers is in getting your hands on them and figuring out how they work.
I’d describe the process as a cross between a complex Lego set and a Rubik’s Cube. The instructions are very much like the ones you get with Lego sets - annotated diagrams as opposed to exhaustive directions - and the way you twist♎ the parts and click them into place is satisfying in the same way as matching up colors on a Rubik’s Cube.
Transformers action figures have 🔜a big advantage over Lego. You don’t need to disassemble them once you’re done if you want to go again. You can just transform them back into a vehicle and then start over.
I’ve been working my way through each of the figures since they arrived, and it has awoken something in me that I didn’t know was there. I’m guilty of still loving pretty much everything I loved as a kid, but until now, action figures were not one of those things. That’s because I didn’t realise how far they’d come. Now I know what action figures are capable of , I fear this is the start of an expensive new hobby. Pulled directly out of the video game, this Skywarp action figure has turned the Transformer from War For Cybertron into a collectible. Skywarp can be transformed into its jet in 29 steps, and the fi🗹gure comes with a backdrop based on the Reactiviate the Bridge scene from the game on which the figure is inspired.
