Because of the asymmetrical nature of combat and warfare in Total War: Warhammer 2, it's easy to have favorite factions that fit your playstyle. Within those factions are also several more choices for Legendary Lords or the faction leader that will serve as the player avatar and agent in becoming the most powerful, be it in the Vortex Campaign or the Mortal Empires grand battle royale.
To that end, picking the most powerful Legendary Lord can go a long way as they not only provide some nifty campaign bonuses but can also serve as a literal one-man 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:army unit. As it is, a game involving Warhammer in its name rewards player favoritism. So when it comes to granting someone the Sword of Khaine or maybe just picking a faction to play through a grand victory condition, these Legendary Lords are the cream ꦕof the crop.
Updated July 3, 2021, by Sid Natividad: The legendary lord roster in Total War: Warhammer 2 is simply so dizzyingly diverse that we can't help but look back to some of the faction leaders we have omitted. While there will always be some meta staples in the game, some of the less popular Warhammer 2 legendary lords can be powerful dark horse figures in their own right.
Thus, the Warhammer 2 best lords selection just got expanded. We've included some of the legendary lords who have been overshadowed by their bigger and heavier-hitting faction contemporaries. You can't go wrong if you pick any of them as well along with the meta staples, assuming you give them the right army and pick the most optimal battle map skills for them.
15 ♉ Durthu (Wood Elves) 🌠
- Large single unit
- Great melee fighter and lord-killer
- Tanky
The Wood Elves don't get much love in their rather simple list of legendary lords but they do have Durthu which is pretty much the Wood Elven equivalent of the Hulk in the Avengers. Durthu is their most powerful melee fighter and he's also a killer walking tree with a flaming sword.
That should be enough reason to convince you in playing the Wood Elves. Durthu is also tanky and can go toe-to-toe with lords like Kholek Suneater. He can soak up enemy fire while the ranged Wood Elf units finish the job. If you give him the Sword of Khaine, you don't even have to bring some backup for ole Treebeard here.
14 🐟 Kroq-gar (L🀅izardmen)
- Good against large units or bosses
- Has flexible abilities despite being a melee fighter
- Gets a T-Rex mount
Kroq-gar fills in a much-needed melee powerhouse lord role for the Lizardmen as their faction leader is a spellcaster. Nakai the Wanderer does have better stats than Kroq-gar but Kroq-gar's campaign map bonuses are too good to pass up or trade-in.
Kroq-gar is also less tanky than Nakai but has a bonus against large enemies, making him perfect as a lord-killer or in dealin🌜g with enemy dragons or monsters. His abilities are more varied as well and his spot on the campaign map is quite advantageous.
13 🐼 🔯Thorgrim (Dwarfs)
- Tanky with high armor
- Insane attack and armor-piercing damage
- Great for lord dueling
Most of the Dwarven lords and even their units are excellent in their own right but Thorgrim, the main faction leader of the Dwarfs is the best of the best among these stout raging beard balls. He's tanky and has insane amounts of melee and armor-piercing damage that he has no problem killing enemy lords.
In a duel, you can expect a Thorgrim to win as long as it's a fair match. On top of having some nasty armor-piercing attacks, Thorgrim himself is also one of the most heavily armored units in the game. That Book of Grudges he carries into battle likely provides even more armor.
12 Skrolk (Skaven) 🌳
- Versatile
- Spellcaster lord
- Can also be a melee duelist
- Devastating plague and poison abilities
Forget about Queek Headtaker if you're playing as the Skaven, Skrolk mostly outclasses him in many ways. Skrolk is supposed to be a range-focused legendary lord whose specialization is spellcasting but that didn't stop him from having a scary melee attack number. His weapon damage is nearly identical to Thorgrim.
If you want him to become even deadlier, you can utilize his proclivity for hiding so he can ambush any unweary unit or lord— you can bet he's reliable in a duel. Skrolk with an army is quite a menace either since he can give poison damage to his fellow Skaven and do some messy harm to the enemy army with plague-themed abilities.
11 𒈔 Throgg (Norsca)
- Extra tanky
- Debuffs melee enemies
- Great for dueling
Looking for a tank that just won't die? Then Throgg from the Norscae Wintertooth faction should suffice. He's a troll and is thus hard to kill. Throgg has one of the highest HPs available for a legendary lord and that gets even harder to whittle down thanks to his regeneration passive ability.
If the enemy army tries to swarm Throgg with melee duelists or killers, they'll get a cold debuff that will slow them down. All that's left is for Throgg to chew through their ranks like the slender popsicles they are. Enemy legendary lords who get too close are also not exempted.
10 ౠ Mannfred Von Carstein (Vampire Lords) ജ
- Good balance between duelist and spellcaster
- Gets a flying undead dragon mount
- Can add more units to his army
Vampire Lords has always been a solid faction that's also beginner-friendly and wouldn't you know it, they also house some of the best spellcaster hybrids available. Among those, Mannfred Von Carstein more or less takes the cake (sorry Vlad the Chad).
Mannfred is already an excellent 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:melee fighter on foot that comes equipped with dual lore magic, meaning the number of options for messing with your enemy is doubled. His mount is also an undead dragon so he's hard to target which is a good thing since his death is an automatic defeat for his army.
9 Malekith (Dark Elves🅰)
- Best balance between spellcaster and duelist in the game
- Gets a flying dragon mount
- Devastating magic
Much like Mannfred, Malekith is a formidable spellcaster/fighter hybrid except Angsty McEdge over here has heavier armor. Anyway, Malekith's dragon mount is also better and deals more damage.
He might not have Mannfred's flexibility as a spellcaster but his spells are more straightforward and should yield devastating results faster. One other advantage he has is also the fact that his army isn't too dependent on him.
8 🦩 Mazdamundi (Lizardmen) 🌠
- One of the best spellcaster lords in the game
- Can rout armies by himself
Speaking of spellcasters, Mazdamundi of the Lizardmen is someone who doesn't believe in being half-baked. So what he lacks in melee combat, he compensates for by being one of the most accomplished magic-users in the game.
Mazdamundi only has one job after all, and that is to sit in the background and cast as many spells as possible to ruin 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the enemy army while his Lizardmen grunts serve as figurative tar pits. If protected well enough, Mazdamundi can turn the tide of battle ꩲby himself using nothing but spells.
7 ꦿ Count Noctilus (Vampire Coast)
- Tanky
- Gets a Necrofex Colossus mount
- Mount gives him powerful ranged artillery
- Great for dueling
- Can summon zombies
Fancy a vampire pirate with an undead wooden gundam? Well, look no further than Count Noctilus because he has one of the coolest mounts in the game. It's literally a giant undead ship re-engineered to function as a mecha.
Not only can Count Noctilus' mount fire cannons and dish out decent damage from afar but also protect himself especially in lordly duels. He's also a good reason to skip Luthor Harkon which is the de facto leader of the Vampire Coast. Luthor's just not as hip.
6 Tyrion (High Elv🌸es)
- Considered as the best melee fighter in the game
- Perfect for lord dueling
Many High Elven lords pride themselves on being hybrid fighter/spellcaster types atop their magical flying steed/dragon. Then there's Tyrion. Tyrion's fine with just a normal horse. Tyrion doesn't overcompensate because he knows he can wreck that Legendary Lord after breaking the enemy infantry line and beelining for them.
He was made to beat the ever-chosen excrement out of enemy lords. To that end, he's one of the finest melee duelists in the game with a dizzying amount of armor-piercing damage. Give him the Sword of Khaine and watch him become one of the best headhunters on the battlefield.
