Tomb Raider 13 made a big impaཧct on the fu♊ture of the series.

The action-adventure series has taken several breaks since its initial creation and has been rebooted more than once. Therefore, it contains fewer entries than not only Resident Evil but more recent series like Call of Duty. That said, th♕ere have still been several Tomb Raider games, especially if you count spin-offs and remakes. But exactly how many has there been?

There Are 11 Main Tomb Raider Games

The Tomb Raider series contains 11 main games, starting with the original Tomb Raider in 1996.

The series' first six games are all part of one overall narrative. During that time, the series was essentially a yearly one, as the first five instalments were released over five years. There was a bit of a break between Chronicles and Angel Of Darkness, as there was a three-year gap between those releases.

Tomb Raider: Legend served as the first reboot of the series and began its own trilogy. However, the second entry in that trilogy is Anniversary, which doesn't count toward that main entry number since it's technically a remake.

Another reboot came after the original reboot trilogy. This new game spawned the Survivor trilogy. These three titles changed Lara a lot and altered the series' well-established gameplay. It was a more grounded and realistic set of action-adventure titles.

There Are 15 Tomb Raider Spin-Offs

Lara Coft And The Guardian Of Light Screenshot Of Co-op Gameplay

Tomb Raider is no stranger to spin-offs, as there have been 15 of them. They differ from the main entries because they aren't 3D action-adventure games. In fact, they vary a bit regarding genre. There are 2D side-scrol𝓰lers, isometric action-adventure titles, a card game, an endless runner, and a top-down shooter.

Most of the games were released on handheld and mobile platforms. The most unusual platform, though, was the Sky Gamestar. This was a UK-🉐only platform, so these were never releaꩲsed in the US.

One of the games released on the Sky Gamestar was Tomb Raider: Apocalypse. It was originally split into three e🥂pisodes. Yet, it only counts as one spin-off.

A few of the spin-offs were released on major home consoles. For instance, Lara Croft Go w♌as released for the PS4.

Yet, the main spin-offs to land on home consoles were Lara Croft and the Guardia🐭n of Light and Lara Croft and the Temple o🅘f Osiris. The former was released on the Xbox 360 and PS3, while the latter was an Xbox One and PS4 title. These two are arguably the most notable spin-offs in the Tomb Raider series.

There Are 5 Tomb Raider Remakes (Including Remasters)

Lara Croft And A T-Rex In Tomb Raider Anniversary

Historically, Tomb Raider hasn't been a series known for constant remakes and remasters. So, there have only been six of them by this point.

Two of them are actually collections of remasters. The Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld trio came as an HD remaster package in 2011. Then, more recently, the original three games came out on newer consoles with updated visuals. Technically, tꦐhis would be six remasters alone, but since they came in collections, each trilogy only counts as one.

The existence of the 2011 HD remaster trilogy means that Tomb Raider: Anniversary technically counts twice toward the total. After all, it was initially a complete remake of the first game and has since been remastered♑.

A debatable game that counted towards the remake number is Tomb Raider: Action-Adventure. This is a game played on a DVD player that follows the Angel of Darkness storyline. It isn't entirely a remake, but it fits into that category, so it counts.

There Are 31 Tomb Raider Games In Total

Tomb Raider Remastered Lara firing pistols as bullet casings spray

Accounting for the main games, spin-offs, and remakes/remasters, there have been 31 Tomb Raider titles released. At least, that is how many have been released so far. The Tomb Raider series has been relatively dormant recently - beyond a remaster - but it isn't officially dead. There will likely be more Tomb Raider games in the future, so expect this number to go up.
