I don’t want this title to be misleading; everyone is well aware that a large group of people doesn't care for this game. It has a ton of issues and a lot of people have already jumped off this game, myself included, but there are a lot of people enjo♚ying it regardless. It seems to be the most talked about game of the fall, and maybe Bethesda went for the “any press is good press” mantra and it worked.
Even if you are one of those people that are going for 100% with this game, you’ll have to admit that there are some problems in this game. There have been plenty of games that have a ton of problems and I still play them and, sometimes, love that game. I actually really liked Mass Effect: Andromeda despite it being the worst Mass Effect game, so I get liking extremely flawed games. I don’t want to paint that Fallout 76 is the most broken game ever made and a waste of time to play. It’s very flawed but there’s something therওe and that brings us to this list!
I want to talk about some of the glaring problems with this game that some choose to kinda “meh” at and keep playing. It seems like this game has a few more problems than most games released now and that is a bit surprising seeing how deep we are past Fallout 3, but here we are. So let’s dissect Fallout 76!
25 💜 Using Melee Weapons ♍
To be fair, I have never liked the melee combat in Elder Scrolls/Fallout games, but that still doesn’t excuse how poor it feels. I feel like I’m swinging a 2x4 and have no cont🐈rol over what I’m doing.
It’s even worse in third-person.
I’m not saying that the melee combat has to be Dark Souls level good or anything, but it needs to feels better. If nothing else, give it a Dying Light feel so 🌄it feels impactful and I have some control over what I’m doing.
24 ꦺ Always Being Over Encumbered
The weight limit in your inventory has always been a thing in Fallout games, but this game has the lowest to date! You can get strength perk cards to up the weight, but even then it’s still an issue. For this game to be all about exploring and finding new weapons and armor it really needs to let the players pick up the stuff they want. I’m not saying to take it away entirely, but having it be expanded and🌺 not having to constantly worry about it would do wonders.
23 ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ The St❀ory, Or Lack Of
To me, the story of the Fallout games has been the main draw for seeing the main story to completion. For whatever reason, they chose to basically get rid of a traditional story in this game and yeah, that’s not great! It does have a story that focuses around finding nukes and trying to get rid of them and dealing with the scorched beasts. The problem is that it’s all told through holo tapes and terminals and you lose so much with that! Even if they just went with a Destiny type of story that would’ve been something!
22 Frame Rate Issues ൲
Boy, the frame rate with thi🍎s game is all over the place! I know that Bethesda games have had issues with this i🌊n the past, but it legit gets so bad in this game that the game will just full-on stop for a few seconds!
Even playing on an Xbox One X, the frame rate dipped in the teens at certain points
The main draw of these games is exploration and having the game freeze so often really breaks the fantasy. Frame rate this b♚ad just isn’t acceptable in a 2018 game!
21 ♎ ♔ Fast Travel Costing Caps
I normally don’t mind having a system like this in a game like this, but it just bothers me in this game. I think it’s because this is the biggest map they have ever made and it just feels off to charge the player caps to fast travel. You do get to fast travel to your camp for free, but that’s it. Horizon Zero Dawn char🃏ged you to fast travel, but there was an item you could get to negate that and this game needs one of those badly, or just patch that out!
20 🔴 🐬 Taking Workshops
This is one of those things that I understand why it’s this way, but that doesn’t mean it’s good and I have to like it. There are workshops all over the map and you can🅠 take them over to get resources in large quantities.
Once you log off they go back to being unoccupied.
It seems redundant to build on them and worry about protecting them too much unless your play sessions are super long. You do get a good bit of ꦺresources, but knowing you don’t get to keep it almost makes it pointless.
19 🌳 ♊No Character Voice
I find it odd that Fallout 4 gave our character a voice for the first time in the series and the very next game t🐽ook it away! I know this is more of a personal taste thing, but I found that to be very disappointing. Seeing that this game lacks much of a story, I guess that’s why they did it, but still. They chose to go the classic MMO route with your character and she/he is basically a silent protagonist. I think it’s lame, but I might be in the minority with that.
18 𝓡 Enemies Respawn
Speaki﷽ng of this game feeling like an MMO, the enemies respawn in areas when you leave the area. I know a lot of games do this, but normally Be🌌thesda games don’t do this.
It’s just an annoying thing that got old to me.
Th🀅ere was a quest and I had to go into a building a few t🐈imes during the course of it, and the enemies came back every time! The same enemies, in the same spots, and it just gets old when every place in the game is like that!
17 PvP
A big selling point for this game is the multiplayer, but man is it underwhelming once you get into it. Firstly, there can only be 24 players on a server at a time, so the odds of you randomly seeing someone is pretty low. I will say that I like the system they have where you don’t have to participate in multiplayer if you don’t want, but other than that, it’s pretty meh. The main aspect of multiplayer is co-op and that seems to work fine. It just seems they would’ve taken a page out of GTA Online or Red Dead Online but they didn't.
16 Perk Cards Are Confusin🦂g 💝
Instead of having a perk screen where you level up in this game they chose to go with a c𒁏ard system instead. It’s fine but can be a tad confusing and it doesn’t need to be.
You get at least one new card every time you level up.
Sometimes you get a new pack bဣut you’re guaranteed at least one with every level up. You can combine duplicate 🌃cards to level them up and that can be frustrating when you want to upgrade a specific perk.
