Starting way back with the original books the games were based on, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher 3 has always made r🎀eference to, or had quests bas🍸ed entirely on, old fairytales and stories. More often than not, these tales are twisted and changed to more accurately reflect the tough, realistic world of the Witcher, just like the 'Open Sesame quest' found in the Hearts of Stone expansion.

This quest is part of the main story progression for the DLC, but has quite a few twists and turns, plus some♎ optional objectives you'll want to know of ahead of time to fully experience this quest. If you thought a quest centered a♕round an auction wouldn't call for a Witcher, you'll be glad to have our guide when things go awry.

Updated on January 18, 2023 by Quinton O'Connor: We've put a fair bit of effort into redesigning our guide on 'Open Sesame', offering further information on each step of the operation and adding (hopefully!) helpful notes along the way.

Initiating The Quest

'Open Sesame' is one of two quests you can start after completing the 'Evil's Soft First Touches' quest, along with 'Dead Man's Party.' To begin, head to Oxenfurt and approach the auction house. This being an auction, make sure you're carrying some extra 𒁏crowns on you. Having over 1,000 will ensure you can get some nice gear, plus 500 for some other items you will want for some side quests.

Talk, or rather argue, with the guards until Vivaldi comes ou෴t and lets you inside. Once you're in the banquet hall, Vivaldi will leave you to speak with his associates, pointing out three inಌ particular.

Speaking to t❀hem is optional, but you'll want to in order to get information about the value of certain auction items and pick up some gear only avai꧑lable during this quest.

Countess Mignole

The old countess will immediately show that she's familiar with Witchers, including Geralt, and is particularly interested in collecting anything related to them. While she explains her most valuable item, some armor from the School of the Wolf, isn't for sale, you can purchase the diagrams for viper gauntlets, armor, trousers, and boots for about 1,000 crowns. You can speak with her some more if you're curious about her previous affair with a Witcher, but otherwise a💟re free to move on.

Hilbert

The Witcher 3_ Hearts of Stone - Gameplay Walkthrough Part 13_ Open Sesame! 14-14 screenshot

If you're a Gwent fan, you'll enjoy speaking to Hilbert. There's not much to his conversation, but you can challenge him to a game for up to 250 crowns. Just be warned, he's a tough player so bring your A-game, and maybe make a quick save beforehand too. You'll get yourself a new Gaunter O'Dimm card in addition to your crowns from the bet.

Yaromir

The art snob Yaromir will have some great intel on the paintings up for auction, but will test your knowledge of art before spilling the beans. Pick the portrait of the merchant option to learn about a specific painting you can purchase in the auction and allow you to sell it later on for a much higher profit. Just💜 don't share that info with Vivaldi if you want to earn even mo𓄧re.

The Auction

The Witcher 3_ Hearts of Stone - Gameplay Walkthrough Part 14_ The Auction 1-50 screenshot

There are three itemsꦓ up for auction, and you can bid on all of them.

  • Count Romilly's Figurine. This can be won for 300 crowns, and while it is only worth 150, it is a part of 'A Dark Legacy' quest.
  • The painting Yaromir informed you about. If you didn't tell Vivaldi it will only cost 40, but can be sold later on for 150. If you did tell him, you'll have to go up to 60 to win it.
  • Professor's Glasses. These will set you back 350 and are nothing but a cosmetic item.

Meet Your Contacts

The Witcher 3_ Hearts of Stone - Gameplay Walkthrough Part 14_ The Auction 9-24 screenshot

During an intermission, Vivaldi will introduce you to Borsodi, but regardless of hoꦡw you handle the conversation, it will end with you being ejected from the auction house and into a fight with two guards. Once you've knocked the guards on their backs, a stranger will introduce himself as a potential partner. He'll direct you to an herbalist to set off the next part of the quest.

The Herbalist

Immediately upon approaching the herbalist's hut you will be beset by three guards. Take them out as you will and speak with the herbalist. Ask for some yarrow extract like the stranger instructed🐼 and head down into the basement. Here you'll meet the stranger yet again to form a plot on breaking into Borsodi's ♚vault. Your first task will be to find two more members of the crew to make the plan work - one to climb up the tower and the other to open the vault.

The Safecracker

The Witcher 3_ Hearts of Stone - Gameplay Walkthrough Part 15_ The Crew 1-46 screenshot

There are two potential safecrackers you can try and recruit for the heist - Quinto and Casmir - 💝but neither are in a particularly good spot at the moment. Quinto, the master lockpicker, is currently held captive by some mercenarie🌠s. You can free him in a few ways.

  1. Pay his bounty of 200 crowns, which you can haggle down to 170.
  2. Gamble and win on a game of Gwent with the commander.
  3. Anger the commander and beat him in a fight.

Casimir, the demolitions expert, is on the verge of blowing himself up on the roof of his home. We might want to do something about that. You can calm him down if you have a high enough Axii skill and bring him on the team.

The Burglar

The Witcher 3_ Hearts of Stone - Gameplay Walkthrough Part 15_ The Crew 8-40 screenshot

You will also be given your pick of two burglars to recruit to scale the tower. Sort of. There's the circus performer, Eveline, or the doppler, Hugo. You can save yourself some time by going ꧋for Eveline first, as purs♛uing Hugo only leads to discovering he's already dead.

Eveline will be easy to bring on board, assuming your aim with a crossbow is good. Just shoot the apples off her friend's heads, and🔥 she'll go back to wait ▨with the rest of your team.

The Cook

The final bit of preparation requires you to concoct a Cleansing Mixture out of Dwarven Spirit, Wolfsbane, and Rotfiend Blood that you need to get the cook to add into the guard's sou🅰p.

The first two ingredients can be purchased from🥂 herbalists, while the 🍌blood needs to be picked up off killed rotfiends.

Once you've brewed up the mixture, eavesdrop on the guards in Oxenfurt to learn that the cook is fishing🔜. Hea🅠d out to the docks and either "convince" him to use the potion using Axii or pay him off with 300 crowns.

Into The Vault

The Witcher 3_ Hearts of Stone - Gameplay Walkthrough Part 16_ The Vault 2-51 screenshot

After a series of cutscenes, you will regain control in the attack of the auction house. Use your Witcher sense to pick up the Love Letters and then head down into the auction house proper. You'll have to take on five guards here, but after the third one goes down Borsodi will show up. Geralt will chase after him, but he is able to lock himself in his own vault as a bell is rung and a👍 swarm of troops shows up. This causes the stranger to grab hostages to hold back the ♌guards.

To successfully handle the negotiations you need to select the demand for the troops to leave, then for a wagon and horses when they offer to bargain. Finally, choose the standard vehicle and release a hostage to avoid any combat.

If you picked Casimir as your safecracker then you will have to fight ✅no matter what once the explosion to open the vault goes off.

If you brought Quinto, he'll pick the lock and let you all inside. This is where the final confrontation occurs, and the stranger reveals his true identity as Ewald, Borsodi's brother. You can choose which brother to side with, forcing a fight either with Ewald himself or Borsodi and his guards. Either choice 🐟will s๊till allow you to loot the vault.

Rewards

The Witcher 3_ Hearts of Stone - Gameplay Walkthrough Part 16_ The Vault 28-36 screenshot

Aside from the viper diagrams and auction items, you are also able to grab a bunch of rewards from the vault. You will obviously need the Maximilian Brody's House item to complete the quest, but you can also pick up the Viper Venomous Steel Sword diagram, and Ofier's Crossbow, plus plenty o🍨fﷺ currency, jewelry, gems, and other odds and ends.
