Our quest against the Templars and Shinbakꦛufu ꦗin Japan isn't just driven by a lust for revenge. At the very start of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Assassin's Creed Shadows, Naoe is told to protect 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a mysterious box by her father, and later vows to retrieve it after it's stolen. We don't know what's inside un🤪til the very end of the game, but clearly it's important enough that we're willing to skewer every member of the Hu💧ndred Demons to get it back.
Spoilers for Assassin's Creed Shadows.
I'm sure we all had our theories about its contents while we were hunting down targets across Kansai, slaughtering Shinbakufu as we demanded answers — maybe it's an Isu artefact, capable of bending minds to the w🌟ielder's whims.𒁏 But the real answer is more rooted in reality.
"It is set up as this important object that can change the world if in the wrong hands. Fast forward to the end, and all that's in the box are the crown jewels of the Japanese emperor, which the Portuguese Templars wanted to steal, for money... MONEY!" . "It's stupid. I don't see the importance of these jewels being so high that it ends up driving Naoe to do all she did [...] I thought that box c🐟ontained like an 💦Apple of Eden or something."
The story in this game is the definition of🎃 bland and uninspired. There is almost no actual plot — u/Primerion-ken
"Being tasked to get back a box is not story," u/Mysterious_Sir_2400 replied. "That is a side quest. The only story-ish part of Shadows is when Yasuke becomes a samurai. Everything else in the game is a poorly written side quest. No overall story arc, lack of interesting characters, no꧒ plot twists. The whole game feels like a never-endin♉g death list."
💎"The box is what kept me going," u/Hashashin101 said. "But every target was like 'I don't know about the box and I don't care, I just wanted to--'. This whole time thinking there must be Isu stuff in there, but it's just some royal jewels."
The Jewels Are More Than Just Money
Granted, calling them 'jewels' is a little bit of an understatement. As u/BlkNtvTerrཧaFFVI explains, "The re✨al life artifacts are considered to be literally mystical, coming directly from some gods like Amaterasu which is what gives the Emperor divine right to rule. Both in the game and in real life, they're considered to be powerful mystical artifacts."
Templars covet power, and the royal jewels further that goal as a symbol of unwaꦰvering authority. But their importance isn't exactly made clear in-game. "Not everyone who plays is aware of the significance of the Imperial Regalia. I mean🎃 until just after reading some responses to this post I thought they were just crown jewels with significant monetary value," u/ZmentAdverti said.
Others, like u/Baraka1978, however, spent so long playing that they'd "forgotten about the damn b🍨ox", nevermind what was inside.
At any rate, whether the jewels are a satisfying conclusion or not, one sentiment is clear from a glance at the community, and it's that the checklist target approach to the story was underwhelming. "Some of the Shinbakfu members had potential to be more interesting, but most are introduced and dealt wit🐼h in the space of 4-5 missions an✱d being in only 1-2 cutscenes. Very little chance to let interesting plot popints develop," u/InsaneMarshmallow said.
"What little story there was felt more about killing than actually getting t🦩he box," u/LatterTarget7 added. "Because like a vast majority of 💃the targets have no clue about the box for some reason and are only there to be killed."
