What Is The Thanatology Skill?
The Thanatology Skill sees Sims exploring the secrets of death through studying ancient historical lore, uncovering mysteries and researching the veil between life and death.
This is a five-stage skill which Sims will need to complete the Ghost Historian Aspiration and which can also help in Ravenwood's new careers.
How To Increase Your Thanatology Skill
- Select Read Theories on... when using a PC to discover more about The Bloomsbluff Mystery House, The House of the Fallen Trees, The Mysterious Death of Robert Crumplebottom, and The Unknown Horse.
- Choose Look Up Historical Deaths from any bookcase.
- Read Skill Tomes which you can purchase via the PC, phone or bookcase.
Tomes expire quickly: The first tome only increases skill from level one up to level two, the second increases through leve🍬ls two and three, and the third through 🎃levels four and five.
- Perform social interactions with the Thantology symbol. These include; inquire about ghostly self - to ghost Sims, and speak a dead language - to all Sims.
- Use Thanantology in your career. Certain pop-up options for the Undertaker career will allow you to use and build your skills.

Thanatology is mostly useful if you are entering into one of the new careers, reaping and undertaking, or if you want to deep dive into the lore of Ravenwood.
