The Eternal Hollow Cemetery

A sim stands by a gravesite in The Sims 4 Life and Death cemetery plot.

In the Crow's Crossing neighbourhood of Ravenwood is the Eternal Hollow cemetery. This lot is pre-built and placed, and comes with The Sims 4: Life and Death. It includes a building you can hold services in, two different types of burial plots, a small selection of headstones, two explorable crypts, some customisable memorial items, and some areas for reflection.

This lot was built to fit exactly into the 64 x 64 sized plot, with the roads in the world even matching up to the paths in the cemetery itself. However, you can build or place a cemetery in any world by using the new cemetery lot type.

As with any other lot type, you can download cemeteries from the gallery, which allows you to search by lot type. Any lot in any residential world can be changed into a cemetery lot type. This means that no matter which world your Sims reside in, you can build or place a cemetery there. The only restriction will be the smaller lot sizes in some of the smaller or older worlds.

What Are The Requirements For A Cemetery?

What Can A Cemetery Be Used For?

Cemetery lots are a good place to hold a memorial service. In the Eternal Hollow Cemetery, you can have a Sim deliver a eulogy from the podium inside the main building, w𝔍hile 𓆏other Sims sit and listen.

You can also come here to spend some time in quiet reflection, sitting by the pond, in the chapel building or by the fountain, tending to a loved one's gravesite, setting up a memorial for them, or engraving and reading their epitaph on a headstone.

In the main building there is an empty casket behind the podium which can be customised with a flag or floral tribute. You can also customise a memorial wreath and portrait which sit either side of the podium.

In small side rooms there are memorials which can be dedicated to deceased Sims. You can go and visit these to spend a few moments in reflection.

The main building contains toilets and Sims can sleep (or woohoo) in the coffin bed in the side building. There is also a set of swings for fun. No other needs can be easily met onsit🃏e.

Outside, a small building by the fountain contains a memorial which can also be dedicated to a Sim who has passed away. It also includes an urn and a Whispering Wren Messenger Statue which allows you to pass on messages to loved ones on the other side.

Across the plot are two crypts which your Sim can explore, as well as another small building, this time containing a coffin bed.

As well as some areas for Sims to just sit, there are also gravesites, which you can tend, as well as headstones which you can engrave and read.

A few other memorial items such as candles are also in the area.

Tips For Building A Cemetery

These are some quick tips ♕for buildin🌜g a cemetery.

  • Think about the purpose. Do you want a building to hold services in or just a quiet place for gravesite and headstones? Funeral services can be held anywhere, much like weddings, so you don't need to cater for everything in your cemetery.
  • Make sure you have clear paths. A cemetery will generally have paths for people to walk around between the graves so they don't cut over the grass. You can use clearly defined paths and fences to ensure this is replicated in your lot.
  • If you want to ensure a full funeral service can be held on the lot, consider adding an upstairs room to your chapel area for wakes to be held in. This keeps the service seperate from the celebration.
  • If you wish to cater to all possible funeral activities you will need music, food, drinks (including for toasts) a musical instrument, and the ability to plant something.
  • Scout out your location first. The pre-built cemetery is 64 x 64, so while you can save it to your library, many worlds won't have a lot large enough to copy it to. If you don't wish to build you'll need to look for smaller cemetery lots on the gallery.
