With all of Obsidian's other games getting regular updates and releases, it's understandable that fans may be a little worried about The Outer Wilds 2 since we've heard barely a peep about it since it was announced three years ago.
Thankfully, it seems like no news is good news with this one, as Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart finally gave us a development update on The Outer Wilds 2 in (). In the interview, Urquhart claims that development on the title is "going really well," and that he's "really impressed" with the folks working on it during hard times at the studio.
The Outer Worlds 2 Finally Gets A New Development Update
Urquhart talks a little about how Obsidian actually struggled to juggle so many projects at once around the time it was acquired and the pandemic struck, and claimed that he felt the studio was "a crappy developer" at the time. Fortunately, he goes on to explain that the team managed to get through that period thanks to Microsoft's understanding and the teams working on different projects.
"I appreciate Microsoft and the teams, we said 'No, we will get there. We'll get there with all of these games.'" says Urquhart. "Are they going to be on the timelines that we originally thought? No, but we're going to get there. And I think that's been proven. Grounded turned out awesome. Pentiment turned out awesome. Avowed is going to be great. The Outer Worlds 2 is looking incredible."
It is interesting to hear from Urquhart about Obsidian's struggles, as it does appear from the outside that it may have had too much on its plate to handle. Thankfully, those issues don't seem to have caused too many problems at the studio, and it seems as though The Outer Worlds 2 is doing just fine. Most of the studio's efforts are now probably on Avowed, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:which was recent🍨ly delayed to Februaryಌ 2025, but here's hoping we get something new from The Outer Worlds 2 when that finally drops.
