If you follow Disney Lorcana, you probably already know the last week has been a whirlwind of news. The first Lorecast stream last Wednesday revealed 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ursula’s Return, the upcoming expansion set for release this May, as well as a new cooperative game mode and product called Illumineer’s Quest. We also got to see the prize cards for the first season of Lorcana Challenge, the official organized play program, and learned𝔉 where each of the ten regional events will be held. On Sunday, the tickets for the first event in Atlanta went on sale… and sold out instantly. According to tournament organizer Pro-Play Games, .

This was disappointing news for many, to say the least. After seven months of honing their skills and building their collections, Lorcana players across the country were eager to attend this inaugural event, compete for valuable prizes, and come together to celebrate their love for theꦆ game. Unfortunatel♑y, it seems like for every person who managed to secure a ticket, there were thousands more who could not.

Tickets for the first European Lorcan💯a Challenge in Lille, France went on sale Monday and the same th⛎ing happened. 512 tickets were sold instantly, leaving many more unable to attend.

The negativeꦓ reaction to this situation throughout the community has been intense, and it’s easy to understand why. When it was announced during the Lorecast that Challenge events would be capped at 512 players, the general consensus was that that wasn’t nearly enough to support the demand.

Global community and engagement manager Richelle Brady made it clear that the 512 cap was just a starting point, and that if demand was much higher, Ravensburger would reevaluate. Part of the frustration from those who weren’t lucky enough to get a ticket stems from the belief that it was always obvious to them that 512 seats 😼wouldn’t have been nearly enough for this event. It won’t be enough for any of the six NA and four EU Challenge events, and it certainly isn&rsq𝔍uo;t enough for the first one ever.

Disney Lorcana's Next Set Is Ursula's Return, Launching This May

Disney Lorcana's first yജear comes to an expꩵlosive conclusion with Ursula, Encanto, and a whole new cooperative format.

They’re not wrong. I think it’s fair to say, even without the benefit of hindsight, 512 is a very low cap for such a popular game. , suspected this was going to happen on Sunday morning. But knowing something in yℱour gut and actually having the data to back it up are two very different things, and with this being the first offℱicial Lorcana event ever, erring on the side of caution with a low cap was the only choice Ravensburger had.

We saw the same thing happen with product avail꧂ability when Lorcana first started, which is contributing to the negativity over the current situation. There weren’t enough packs to m🦹eet demand, and fans eager to get their hands on cards were vocally frustrated about Ravensbuger’s lack of foresight. People expected the company to know how popular Lorcana would be, given the IP, the quality of the artwork, and the pedigree of its designers.

But until the orders started rolling in, there simply wasn’t any data to work from. It would have been disastrous if The First Chapter had been overprinted and undersold, and it would have been disastrous if Lorcana Challenge Atlanta had a massive cap and ended up having lots of empty seats. Starting too small🅷 was a better 𝄹choice than overextending.

There are a couple of other controversies surrounding the organized play program. Lorcana is using a new two-game format for the Day One Swiss rounds at all of the initial Challenge events, which is rubbing some seasoned players used to Best-of-Three♑ the wrong way. Also, new sets won&🐈rsquo;t be legal at Challenge events until they’ve been out for three weeks, so Ursula’s Return won’t be legal at Atlanta, meaning the first major event will feature the old Into the Inklands format while excitement for Ursula’s Return is at its peak.

It only took a few months to fix the product availability problem, and today, you can walk into most local game stores and buy Into the Inklands packs. Ravensburger has already announced it's looking for ways to increase the cap at all of the Challenge events, and is delaying ticket sales in the meantime. This means more people will likely get to play at Atlanta and the other Challenge events than expected, but of course, there’s always going to be a limit, and not everyone who wants to play will get to.

No matter what the capacity ends up being, full events are great for Lorcana. When demand is higher than what can be accommodated, it will lead to more, bigger, better events. The organized play program is already a lot more robust than I expected for Lorcana’s first year, and I’m certain that, despite my disappointꦫment that I won’t be playing in Atlanta, this whole situation is nothing but good news for the future of competitive Lorcana.
