The Lynels are particularly tricky opponent𒊎s, infamous among fans. Some players avoid them entirely, while others go out of their way to hunt them down. Wherever you fall on the spectrum of dealing with Lynels, we've written this guide to prepare you for the worst.

Types Of Lynels

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Silver Lynel and Blue-Maned Lynel

There are four kinds of Lynels. Red Lynels are the easiest to tackle, while Silver Lynels are the hardest.

  • Red Lynels (Compendium #147)
  • Blue-Maned Lynels (Compendium #148)
  • White-Maned Lynels (Compendium #149)
  • Silver Lynels (Compendium #150)

The developers have increased the difficulty by giving the Lynels more health and the a𒅌bility to do more damage, but also by letting them use new moves and making flurry rushes harder to achieve. Each type of Lynel coulౠd also be wearing armor.

How To Take On And Beat A Lynel

lynel beam emitter

Lynel are challenging opponents to beat, but no👍t impossible by any means. Here, we'll give you the best tips we have.

First, try to get a sense for the attacks a Lynel will use. These are the attacks you can expect from a Lynel (that we have observed):

  • Leap and ground pound
  • Horn swing
  • Drive-by sword swing
  • Charge
  • Three fireballs
  • Shoot
  • Charge and shoot
  • Sword swipe
  • Triple sword slash
  • Sword-and-shield hug

Lower-tier Lynel variations may not 𝓡use all attacꦦks.

To beat Lynels, it's essential that you learn to parry and evade these attacks perfectly, so that you can go in for flurry rushes. You won't be able to parry and evade the same way for every attack, though, so watch out! 🐲For example, when a Lynel starts to charge at you, you can only evade to the side. If you try to evade backwards, you're still caught in the Lynel's charge and will take damage.

We recommend using a one-handed weapon to take on a Lynel! That's because they can deliver the most blows during a flurry rush; you'll get the most bang for your buck, so to speak. Fuse your strongest items, like Lynel horns or dragon claws, onto your strongest (preferably buffed) swords or sticks. Make sure you have a couple prepared going into tꦦhe fight, too! Trust us: you'll break🍃 a few weapons during this endeavour.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Armored Lynel in the depths

If the Lynel is wearing armor, you'll need to attack first with a weapon that has been fused to a rock or some other heavy object. The yellow bar covering the Lynel's red health indicates how much armor it has left; once that's all goꦿne, th💙e Lynel will be momentarily stunned and you'll get an opportunity to deliver a lot of attacks.

Other than flurry rushes, one way to get the Lynel to stop in its track is to stun it with an arrow to the head. It's easy to accomplish this before entering the fight, giving you a window of opportunity for an opening attack. In the middle of the fight, thougಞh, it's not so 𝄹easy to get distance from the Lynel. If you try, it will often start chucking fireballs at you.

Did you know that you can mount a Lynel? Between at🎀tacks, it will sometimes need to take a rest: it will slump forward and lean on the ground. This also works when it's stunned from an arrow to the head, or if you just manage to sneak up behind it without its notice. Just mount the Lynel when you're prompted; it'll never💞 know what hit it! You can get quite a few attacks in before it bucks you off, and the thrill is unparalleled.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Lynel and Avatars with Link

The bonus headshots are the reason why you should probably have the Avatar of Tulin active for Lynel fights. You receive Tulin's Avatar upon 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:finishing the Wind Temple and handling🐎 the Rito's regional disturbance. The Avatar of Tulin will attack your enemy at a distance with its bow and, occasionally, manages to land that crucial headshot.

Everyone has different preferences about the Avatars. Some prefer to have all their companions active most of the time, while others don't appreciate the distraction. In boss fights, it doesn't hurt to have all of them active (or, whichever ones you've earned), because they distract and attack enemies. However, if they're distracting you more often than they're distracting the bad guys, just꧒ turn them off; the minimal helꦦp during a fight isn't worth it.

If you're struggling to defeat a particularly challenging Lynel, don't forget the power of items! Lynels aren't affected much by elemental damage, so don't bother with or anything like thaꩲt. These are the kinds of items w✤e recommend:

  • : if you prefer to fight at a distance, these will help your arrow always hit your target, and can help increase the likelihood of a headshot
  • : you can easily blind a Lynel by surrounding it in smoke, which is fantastic for getting extra hits in if you're just not having luck parrying or evading, and can also help give you a moment of respite
  • : these can be used to create updrafts that send you soaring over the Lynel and allow you to freeze time in midair while you aim a shot
  • : these bones provide a lot of extra damage but aren't durable; they're wasted on melee weapons but perfect for arrows... assuming you trust your aim
